William was born in 1830 in Jackson, Ala. Moved to Shelby Co., TX in 1850. I am told he died in Walnut Springs, Bosque, TX abt 1908. I was also told that he was buried near a Ward School. I can not find any reference to a "Ward School" nor can I find him listed as buried in any cemetary in Bosque Co. If you happen to run across any information on William, please share. Thanks, Clint

There has never been one. This is an old cementery I have g-g-grandparents buried there. I do not think anyone in Iredell has the money for the upkeep of it....I know I don't by my self......I would be willing to contribute but my contributions would be small. There are no new burials their that I know about most people now are buried at the Mitchel cementery.....That is where my grandparents and several aunts and uncles along with my dad are buried. You think that cementery is bad you should see the Hanna Cemetery it is worse.....Trees growing right up through graves....I have g-grandparents buried there also and thank God theirs in 1999 were still ok......The people in Bosque county are very poor and most only have enough money to get them through the month.

    3. Margaret McCleskey, regarding the conversation about the lack of upkeep at the Riverside Cemetery in Iredell. I don't know anything about this cemetery. But just a few comments on cemetery associations. I am president of a cemetery association in McLennan County. We incorporated about 4 years ago as a non-profit. We received a Certificate of Incorporation and a charter number. In order to accept monies for dues and upkeep of the cemetery, there has to be some reporting system, even if the group is exempt from taxes. There may have been several ways to do this and please, I don't know all the technical and legalities of what I'm saying. But I got a tax ID# and each year I have to file a Texas Franchise No Tax Due Information form and a Texas Franchise Tax Public Information Report that lists the names and addresses of the board members. You can do a search at the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts website. This gives certification of Franchise Tax Account status. My cemetery is listed here and also board members. I did a search for Riverside Cemetery, and variations of the name, including Bosque County .... etc, and don't find it listed. And once again, depending on when this cemetery was formed, may depend on if it's listed or they may have a different way of reporting. http://ecpa.cpa.state.tx.us/coa/Index.html I'm assuming the treasurer is accepting monies. Is there a cemetery association and do you have annual meetings. I would get a copy of their bylaws to see how much authority the board has or if certain things need a vote by the membership, but I guess to do this you have to know some names. I wish you luck. Someone in the area must know who the president and other board members are. Sandra Van Wyk Carrollton, Tx

    3. There is a good website for Texas cemetery listings and burials. Includes Bosque Co. Go to: http://www.accessgenealogy.com/cemetery/texas2.htm Choose the county and then choose the cemetery. Return to the original county listing page each time to choose different county, etc. Has online lists of people buried in each of the named cemeteries, and there are quite a few for Bosque and surrounding counties. I plan to drive my the cemetery next Saturday morning to check on the condition of the cemetry since all of the rain we had in June. I will be taking pictures. Can anyone tell me if there is a cemetery association for Riverside Cemetery and, if there is, is it active and how does one contact the association? There are many cemeteries in Texas with active associations who have enough money in their treasuries to pay for upkeep on the cemeteries. Some have enough to provide perpetual care. The associations with which I am personally familiar have regular meetings once a year at the cemeteries.

    1. Duke, Scott, Liverman, Gravitt, Holland
    2. Hello list, I am looking for descendants of William Henry Duke, b. about 1858-60 in GA. He married Elizabeth Lee Scott 1882, Bosque Co. They had son Richard Elonzo Duke, b. 1884 Cedron, Bosque Co. Elizabeth died shortly after, at age 17. Wm Henry married second Sallie Liverman and they had several more children, possible as many as 7. I have visited the Cedron Cemetery where Wm Henry and both wives are buried. An Earl Duke, 1894-1920, and a Lucille Duke, 1890-1925 are buried next to Wm Henry and Sallie. The 1900 census show William H and wife Sallie with: Lucian R, son, age 11 Lucille, dau, age 10 Harrey, son, age 8 Earl, son, age 6 Anna B, dau, age ? Alich (?) dau, age 8 mo. My connection is through a descendant of Wm Henry and first wife Elizabeth Lee Scott, and their only son Richard Elonzo Duke. Richard married Maggie Gravitt, whose father may have been Andy Gravitt, and mother may have been Lisa Holland. I have also seen the father of Maggie listed as Y.O. Gravitt. Thank you for any input.
