Born in Clay County, Ky., he was the son of Sophia Gibson Owens and the late Robert Owens Sr. Mr. Owens was employed by Northside Greenhouse, where he was a Horticulture Specialist and of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Janice Mooney Owens of the home; four daughters, Barbara Taylor, Robin Shehan and Karen Stancell, all of Pickens, and Mary Owens of Marietta; two sons, Pete Owens of Travelers Rest, and Tim Owens of Flat Rock, N.C.; three sisters; two brothers; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Orville Owens; and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at The Howze Mortuary Chapel, with burial at Grandview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Howze Mortuary.
