    3. Historian Seeking Texas Ranger Descendants Helotes Author Cynthia Leal Massey is researching and writing a book on Minute Men Troop V of Medina County. This Texas Ranger troop served from September 1, 1872 until August 15, 1873. Massey is interested in obtaining information and photographs of the men in the troop. The following were members of the troop: From Castroville: George Haby, Joseph Beck, Armin Boehme, Joseph Burell Jr., Joseph Michael Burell, Leopold Haby, John Karm, Jacob Haby, Julius Heuchling, Frank Monier, Adolph Wurzbach and August Wurzbach. From Helotes: Charles Braun, Cesario Menchaca, Francisco Rivas, and Jesus Zepeda. From Helotes by way of Fredericksburg: John F. Green and Fred Specht. From San Antonio: Frank Bihl, Fritz Braun, M. Taylor Jones, James M. Van Riper, and W. H. Van Riper. Massey, the award-winning author of "Helotes, Where The Texas Hill Country Begins," and two historical novels, is also interested in information on and photos of William F. Green, chief of detectives, San Antonio Police Department, in the 1920s, and Gabriel W. Marnoch (1838-1920).
