Arnold/Medina Ranch Cemetery. Mapsco: 677-F1, GPS: N29*20.625 W098*43.230. This cemetery was established in 1849 and is located on private property owned by Strauss Medina Ranch. To reach the cemetery, travel 2.5 miles south of Highway 90 on W.T. Montgomery Road. Turn left into Strauss Medina Ranch Road. Drive 1.15 miles to a gate across the road. The cemetery is located on the north bank of the Medina River, about 0.14 miles past the gate. The cemetery is the burying place of Hendrick Arnold, who was given this land by the Republic of Texas for his services as a soldier, according to a plaque on the gate. He served as a scout and participant in the seige and capture of San Antonio 5-10 Dec. 1835 and was a member of Deaf Smith's spy company at the Battle of San Jacinto. He died of Cholera in 1849. For more information on Arnold, see the article published 2 Aug. 1981 in Section H3 of the San Antonio Express News. See also The Handbook of Texas, 1:71. Stones in the grave are flat and have only names engraved upon them. A monument placed in the ceme! tery in 1936 by the State of Texas, says Arnold was born in Kentucky in 1804 and died 9 Nov. 1849. Arnold, Hendrick Arnold, Katherine Adams, William C., Sr. Adams, William C., Jr. Adams, Mary Ann Adams, Ophelia K. McDonald, Charles M. McDonald, Guadalupe Boling, Joseph I hope this helps.
