    1. If they realize that a lot of people are upset.....

    3. >>I don't mean to stir up trouble but there is an e-mail address for the >>Masons at their site. Couldn't everyone that is concerned about the >>cemetery send mail to them asking why the cemetery is so neglected? If >>they realize that a lot of people are upset about it, mayby they will do >>something about it.<< STIR UP TROUBLE? What do you think I've been doing, all by my lonesome? On half a dozen Rootsweb mailing lists...honest, what sounds so easy has been an impossible task. What I would really like to do is organize a protest march, from the Alamo to the cemetery...... Here are some email addresses... There are 2 Masons responsible for the cemetery.... Don Lively [email protected] James Higdon [email protected] The man at the City of SA to contact is: Dean Fickensher [email protected] he will be in charge of the prison crews K Irvin is the go-between with the Parks Dept head [email protected] Write them and ask... #1 When are the Masons getting the deed handed over? #2 Why aren't they doing anything right now to clean up? #3 Do they have a list of all the graves, and family members to contact? I have written every organization I find on the internet... All the San Antonio organizations that should care...no response, maybe a good luck keep us posted....so I went to the state level, even the national level. Nothing. Then there were the politicians...hardeharhar Oh yes, then about 3 descendants...they have helped the most...a few emails..... One gentleman shows up with a weedeater now, he says it just isn't right. Two gals from the German Texan List were kind enough to do some research on the CSA vets, saved me a lot of time. One man has sent me a few bios... has anyone helped me take photos of 100 family plots, 800 graves, write one letter of complaint, even visit the cemetery and clip away at a few bushes, pick up beer cans? Nooooooo....... Found one veterans group who was willing to help when we had 3 or 4 markers to register, even replace. But now that there are about 50, I haven't heard from them, except for one man out of town who said he would see if they could get a clean-up going. I've been going out there, photographing plots, clipping bushes away from their headstones to see the names. Saying hi to the cops who park on the hill there, who call me the cemetery lady and think I'm crazy. Maybe I am. I just can't understand why I'm the only one who seems to care. And I'm not getting anywhere. There's really no reason to stay on this Mailing List, all I'm doing is wasting my time. It will be a heckuva long time before I decide to open my mouth about anything again. Ok I'm thru venting, I really do appreciate your suggestion I didn't mean to blow up at you, I apologize. Sarah

    3. Hi, Sarah Just to let you know, I e-mailed the mayor of SA. this evening. Can you get the newspapers to come out and take pictures? Embarress as many that way as you can. It is a long drive for me cause I live in northcentral Okla. And I understand how hard it is to fight "city hall" Been there, done that. The same thing is going on in New Mexico. Someone on the NMDEBACA-L is fighting the same fight. Check the archives there for more ideas. There should be a state cemetery board to contact. I don't remember what else was being done in NM. G.
