I am told that Dr. Andrew Wilson Desmuke or Dr. A. W. Desmuke who is found in the 1860 census in Bexar County did the first appendectomy in the Santa Rosa Hospital in San Antonio. I was also told recently that his picture is in the lobby of the hospital. Can anyone verify this information and give me a source? He is also supposed to have started a drugstore or pharmacy in San Antonia with a Dr. Herff. How can I verify this? Judy Burdick
