(That is why you have to collect all the siblings and the in-laws--follow the community. Also watch out for the watercourse, especially in those counties with big Rivers.) (Example: I know one of my German-born ancestors, whose wife and children remained in Texas after a divorce, had died in Brooklyn, NY and was buried there by his second wife, whom he allegedly married in Hamburg, Germany. I learned this history from a *Old War* pension record and that of the widow. Then much later, I learned that the Brooklyn Eagle newspaper had been digitized. So, in the hopes of finding an obiturary, I started reading the Brooklyn Eagle page by page. However, being impatient, I decided to use my *find* button. Lo and behold, a headline, not an obituary, indicated he had been severely injured by the Brooklyn police and had died of his injuries. This was the judgment of the coroner. He was born in Bexar County, Texas on October 24, 1951 to the late Ernesto G. and Rosa Gil Alvarado. He was formerly employed by Mendez Construction Company and was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Survivors include three sisters, Rosa Maria Jimenez, with whom he made his home, of Dobson, Rebecca Segura of Texas and Candy Bustamante of Dobson; two brothers, Ernesto G. and wife Aurora Alvarado of Texas and Ramiro G. Alvarado of Dobson; a special niece, Rosa Jimenez also of Dobson. In addition to his parents, Mr. Alvarado was preceded in death by a sister Catalina J. Lopez. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Divine Redeemer Catholic Church in Boonville with Father Jose Gonzalez officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. An all night vigil will be held at the church on Tuesday evening where his body will remain until time for the Funeral Mass. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes be made to family c/o Rosa Jimenez P.O. Box 193 Dobson, NC 27107 to assist on the funeral expenses. Special thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, Dr. Bowling and staff and Northern Hospital of Surry County for the compassionate care given to Mr. Alvarado during his illness.
