    3. Ron, I replied to your personal email address, but then it occurred to me that it might not get past your spam filter. So here goes: Your Grandfather's occupation in the 1920 census is listed as poultry peddler. The street listed is Foch Highway, but the number is 1100. Do you need the other names and data from that census? 1. [TXBEXAR] Searching for More Info Re Reimschissel Family
    2. The surname Reimschissel is misspelled in the 1880 Bexar Co. census as Ramschisel [probably phonetically spelled] Here are some notes I made many years ago when the 1880 census was put on CD-ROMs by the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. I did not copy all the columns. Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace Freder RAMSCHISEL Self M Male W 31 TX Laborer --- --- Agusta RAMSCHISEL Wife M Female W 28 TX Keep House --- --- Hugo RAMSCHISEL Son S Male W 5 TX TX TX Carolina RAMSCHISEL Dau S Female W 1 TX TX TX Source Information: Census Place San Antonio, Bexar, Texas Family History Library Film 1255291 NA Film Number T9-1291 Page Number 41C Here is some information I found in the Marriage Records of Bexar Co. Bexar Co. Marriage License 5490 - Friedrich Reimschissel and Augusta Henze. 22 Jan 1878. J. Gossweiler, Pastor, Luth. Church, San Antonio; witnesses, Theresa Reimschissle, Charles Koenig (Bk F-429) Reason for my interest: I suspect the bride Augusta Henze is the person appearing in the household of August Henze in an earlier census. AUGUSTA HENZE. She is one of the daughters of August Henze of San Antonio, TX. She was age 7 in the 1860 census, giving an approximate birthdate of 1853. She is named in his will as one of the children on the father's side. Here is another note I found on the Reimschissel family, based on 1870 Bexar Co. census: the 1870 cenus for San Antonio (abstracted in SAHGS OUR HERITAGE, V. 29, No. 1, Oct 1987): Reimschupel [sic], L., age 48, F-W-keep house-Pru [birthplace] " Frederick, age 21, laborer, TX " Henry, age 16, laborer, TX " Margreth, 13, at home, TX " Theresa, 11, TX Others in the 1870 household: a Bader family, Frederick, age 26; Holstine [sic]; Pauline, age 19; Frederick, age 1.* (No wonder we cannot find our German ancestors--with spellings like these!!!) Question: Can you help fill in the blanks? And how many other spellings are there for this surname? E.W.Wallace whose second great-grandmother Mathilda [Folger] Schoen aka Shane married Augusta Henze's father in San Antonio [2nd marr for her; probably 3rd marriage for him] - **************It's Tax Time! Author: dalescheihagen Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.bexar/141.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hey, That memorial does say that it was the younger Thomas who was one of the old 300. (I have a pic of that memorial.) I don't know if it ever said the older Thomas was one of the old 300, but if it ever did, it doesn't anymore. I don't believe the younger Thomas would have been too young to have been one of the old 300 settlers. The older Thomas was indeed fairly old. I don't know exactly how old the younger Thomas was, but from what documents (much of which is well covered in "No Holier Spot of Ground") I've seen and given the age of his father, it seems to me that young Thomas was certainly old enough to have been one of the old 300. If you need further confirmation, I can check with the book's author (I actually spoke him today about an unrelated issue) and see if he can provide further documentation. Of course, Paul may have contradictory info that is just as valid (so I won't be to quick to dismiss his point), but I'm convinced that young Thomas was one of the old 300. -Dale Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: wcbryson_1 Surnames: Edwards Howard McCormick Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.bexar/2638/mb.ashx Message Board Post: George Thomas Howard, of whom William E. Howard III wrote in your August 2002 Ancestry web posting, was my Great Great Grandfather. His daughter Isabel (Belle) Howard married Willis Green Edwards at St. Marks Episcopal Church, San Antonio. Their names are on a plaque in the narthex of St. Marks acknowledging their gift of pews (as I recall). Many of Willis Green and Belle Howard Edwards' descendants reside in Kerr County and San Antonio Texas where we have fond memories of Summers spent with our grandmothers' cottages during the 1930's, 40's, and 50's at a family enclave, Pleasure Hill, on the Guadalupe River between Ingram and Hunt. Willis' brother Frank Mudge Edwards purchased the Pleasure Hill property in July 1911. We Edwards descendants are planning a centennial celebration three years from now. All of the Pleasure Hill is still in family hands, most owned by first and second cousins of mine. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
