    3. I do not know the answer but I'm betting someone in San Antonio will be able to give us the facts ... I seem to remember this same question some time ago on some list or other, and have to confess that I do not know if it was ever answered. If it was, I did not retain it. Do you know which tra8ining facility? And there may be others for all I know. CAMP BULLIS. established in 1917 to train troops in preparation for the growing threat of war in Europe. http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/CC/qbc6.html FORT SAM HOUSTON. In 1937 the largest maneuvers since World War I were held, http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/FF/qbf43.html FORT SAM HOUSTON MUSEUM http://www.nostalgiaville.com/travel/Texas/sanantonio/sanantonio.htm Presume you have checked directly with the facility? And always remember that usually "all" records are not lost. Of course, after a fire a lot are thrown out simply because at the time no one tried to save them ... easier to dispose. Another question I'd be asking, after finding out if that statement is true, is if duplicate records of any kind could be on the Federal or State level - Good starting place for any Texas historical info is The Handbook of Texas Online: http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/ Trevia Wooster Beverly Houston, Texas ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <txbexar-l@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 24, 2008 10:22 AM Subject: [TXBEXAR] 1937 Army Training Camp > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: mbrowder53190 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.bexar/2704/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I am searching for information about the Army Training Camp in San Antonio > during 1937. Author: RAOGK_Jim Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.bexar/2699.1.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Carole, Do not know if this will be of any help to your search or not but it might. 1920 Census shows the family of Nathan Sellinger and his wife Rebecca Burg Sellinger. Among family members is a daughet listed as Mamie Levine a widow and her son Joseph Levine age 4 years 2 months. He is of the right age to be the Joseph S. Levine who was born Sep 1915. Mamie's father Nathan died 31 Mar 1924 and his wife Rebecca died 17 Sep 1920. Obituaries were published for both. Also see newspaper article of a Mamie Levine who was a secrtary for the FBI who moved to Houston in the 40's I think. Mamie and Joseph Levine are listed in the 1930 census in Bexar Co. and her occupation was that of a secretary so might be one in the same. If interested in any of this let me know and can email you the items if you give me a email address. Have had all kinds of troubles attempting to post to this site these days I'm sorry to say.
