    2. CHARLES RAY
    3. Thanks to everyone who has provided responses to my query about Birth Certificates for Charles Ray.  I now have the addresses and phone numbers in my wallet and will stop by these places when I get back to San Antonio. I went to the office on Santa Rosa in SA.  I remember standing in line for some lengthy time only to be stopped in the midle of my question and was directed to Austin for results.  I need to return to office on Santa Rosa and ask someone else who might have a minute more to spare before driving to Austin.  Charles W. If you go to this website: http://www.kindredtrails.com/TX_Bexar.html You will find the address and phone number of the office of Bexar County vital statistics and lots of other stuff. Since you live close to the Clayton Library, why not ask the librarian there for information concerning Bexar County. Also lots of the San Antonio newspapers are on line. I have looked up information about my families: Loeloff, Gembler, Graf, etc. I started my search back in the late 1960s - even with the help of so many people I still do not have all the answers - maybe I never will but the fun is really in the search and in the great people you meet along the way. 3. Over the past several years I have received an awful lot of help from this list. Please remember that not everyone has the answer to your problem - sometimes it is just luck that the right person reads your question. 3. In addition to my earlier suggestion of RAOGK, you might try the San Antonio Genealogical & Historical Society http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txsaghs2/ They indicate that they do research. You might also try the San Antonio Public Library http://www.sanantonio.gov/Library/ Scroll to the bottom of the main page for contact .... they may be able to answer your question as to where birth records for 1858 are ---- if there are any! http://www.countyclerk.bexar.landata.com/ Bexar County Clerk's office. Check out the Bexar County Archives - http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~usgenweb/tx/bexar/bextoc.htm They have some later (after 1900) birth records listed. Might as well go a step further for those researching in Bexar Co- http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/arc/local/bexar.html Texas State Archives' microfilm --- these are all available on Interlibrary Loan .... Officially the Texas birth records began in 1903, not fully implemented until ca. 1910. Of course when social security came in, many people filed Delayed Births -- even though born in another state, you will often find they obtained a TX delayed birth certificate. There are, of course, earlier births .... filed in odd places. If Catholic, church records are usually an excellent source. I'm off to the dentist but when I return I'll see if I can come up with anything else. 3. I looked this up. There is no obituary for Eldridge Deforest Arnold Jr in any Express-News issue from Mar 27, 1993 to April 9, 1993. Just because someone dies here does not mean his obit will be in the paper. A family has to pay to have an obit published and some opt out. My name is Julie Caddaye, and I live in Melbourne - Australia. I am 44 years of age. I am not sure if you have been provided any information of my family connection with "THE CARNEY" family. (Via family members in San Antonio, Texas), But if not, my relationship is as follows: - My mother's maiden name was - LOLA CARNEY, (she was born in 1943 here in Australia & still lives here). Her father is LOUIS CARNEY Snr. My mother was named after "Lola Carney"- Grandpa's Sister. My mother was four (4) years old when my Grandpa left Australia to return to the USA. My mother was unable to locate his whereabouts since that time, which was back in 1947. The "only" piece of documentation we had to refer to, was "ONE LETTER" dated 1947, which was written from "LOLA CARNEY", addressed to my Grandmother here in Australia (my mother's Mother, who is now in her 80's and still living). Inclusive were some photos. We have a photo of "Emilio Garcia" from 1947 (which shows a baby sitting in a high chair, the notation on the back of this indicates that the child was approx. 10 months old - at that time). Perhaps this photos is "of you"??????? After many years of tracing, re-search & endless hours of time - I managed to eventually trace/locate family members - it was a miracle! Approx. 5 years ago, we started to correspond & communicate with "THE CARNEY FAMILY", in Texas. My husband and myself have since visited San Antonio on two (2) occasions and were fortunate enough to have this wonderful opportunity. My mother & I remain in regular contact with THE CARNEY'S. Unfortunately, my mother is unable to travel to the States as my father is disabled and has been for approx. 18 years. We have also spoken via "webcam" to San Antonio on a few occasions - this has been fantastic! I have on a few occasions, tried to conact you via various website options - but to date "have had no luck". Trusting this information brings many wonderful opportunities your way & enables "our family tree" to become re-united. Looking forward to hearing from you shortly. Take care - JULIE CADDAYE. cadds@netspace.net.au Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
