ED 65 and Sheet 3B are correct. Thanks! Also, the family in Madison Co., TX is not the family of Henry and Martha E. Long. Both the parents were deceased as of Oct. 1879 and in 1880 they are living with aunt Nettie Johnson, wife of Benjamin Johnson, in Lavaca Co. They guardian was their uncle Cornelius M. Allen. The 1900 Census for Maggie Long is correct; she is living with her uncle Robert Bruce Allen in Atascosa Co. Happy to have been of some help. ... Yes Ancestry can be a little odd at times for sure. You can find the family in 1910 in Auston Co., District 65, Sheet 3B family is indexed as James W. Lung (42), Emma Lung (36), Eva Lung (9) and Maggie Lung (40). His occupation is Minister so pretty sure that's him. Maggie's occupation at the time was that of a dress maker. Maggie Long in 1900 is in Atascosa Co., district 6A, sheet 6A her occupation then is school teacher. She is listed as niece to Robert Allen who is on the bottom of page 6B. Long family was living in 1880 in Madison Co. TX, district 100, page 27B. All of the family is there with exception of the husband/father. Wishing you well with your search. James Walter Long in the 1910 census. I didn't have any luck replicating your find with Long exact or soundex or Emma or James, no surname, with or - their birth year. Will go back and try again. I did locate them in Medina Co. 1900, Frio Co. 1920 and Gonzales Co. 1930. I can't bring up my find of them in the 1930 again either (listed as J.Walter Long). Ancestry puzzles me at times! The lead that Maggie b. ca 1871 was in Austin Co. in 1910 makes her about 30 so plenty old enough to marry so I will have to see if I can find marriage records after 1910 there. Below is the extract of the death certificate (you can print it off by clicking on the book graphic. Note that he lived in Waelder, Texas and the Bexar Co death certificate is stamped Non-Res. He was buried in Hondo so I suspect the obituary would have been published in a newspaper covering Waelder (Gonzales Co) or Hondo (Medina Co). The d.c. says the undertaker was at Hondo ... check to see if it is still in operation and ask for a check of their files ... d.c. does not say which cemetery but they should have that in their files. Try different names ... or initials ... or only the surname if nothing comes up ... or only Texas rather than a county. Another hint is to always remember, especially if you can't seem to find an obituary, to check the news items (a really bad accident, or murder, etc.) would be in the news section and the family may not have bothered with a paid obituary. And really early, don't forget to check the true classified area of the newspaper because many were place there as paid advertisements. Don't forget to check denominational newspapers - and the church records. Most likely, as a serving minister at the time of death you'll find both an obituary and a news story. Hope this helps. 3. Ron and Sue, You all have been great with the info.  My husband took me to the one on Palmetto, but wouldn't you know that with all of those cemeteries there, St. Mary was the only one with all of the gates locked.  That's my kind of luck. LOL  I don't know if it makes a difference, but both death certificates list it as St. Mary Cemetery, with no "s" on the end of Mary. And Ron, thank you for the advice.  That is an area of town I won't go to by myself in broad daylight.  My sis-in-law was warning me also, but I would never try it on my own anyways. Thanks for all the help.  And when you said that it was bordered by the German Cemetery, were you talking St. John's Lutheran Cemetery?  That was the one that I found it connected too. I'll write down the names of those tombstones you are looking for, just in case I get in there and happen to run into them. Hope you all have a great night!
