It was a plus on Sarah Cemetery List when I found people from Stubbeville,Ohio Jefferson County. My dads ancestor was Robert McClain married Patience Piles. The McClains migrated form Loudoun County VA to Point Marion Pa then to Jefferson County to Toronto,Ohio near Island Creek .Robert McClain born Scotland 1746.

Hi, list members, I am saddened and disappointed by the response to this problem. It is nation wide from what I have read on other mailing lists and I have never read anything like what has been said here. The negative attitudes are a lot of the reason for all of us losing so much about our past. We lost the 1890 census because noone bothered to dry out the census papers. They did not all burn. They were left to mold and rot in a hallway after the fire. "It would take too much time and money to clean and dry them" That attitude is just tragic. G. Hi everybody, Have the flyers in hand. Decided the best thing to do was copy photos of the beer cans, broken gravestones, brush, condoms (yes you read that correctly) etc on one side, then actual letters from the Alamo Masons in charge on the other side, so no one can accuse me of making things up. They already said I "take peoples words and twist them to make yourself look like a rescuing angel." If anyone can join me, go to 308 Avenue E, it's the BIG building on Avenue E & 3rd, a few blocks north of River Center mall, near the Express News. I may have on my Rescuing Angel's wings. ;-) Sarah
That is OK! Next time tell it to one of my cousins RIP Griffin!

This is a GREAT mailing list! You have no idea how much I appreciate your interest, concerns, and ideas. Please keep them coming! Sarah Task Force to Save the Alamo Masonic Cemetery Chairman (don't tell the masons that me and the cemetery residents are the only ones on the task force)
Thanks, that's where I started to find her email address. Turns out it should be [email protected] , not asconservation.org. Gerrard Hite has not returned my emails, except for acknowledging the first one. He is the THC cemetery person. I have been keeping him posted since day 1. I called Virginia Nicholas, she is a lovely lady and had me email her everything from the beginning. Sounds like she is going to get something done! I'm familiar with the State guidelines, have been ignored by both the county commissioner and the state because it is owned by a fraternal organization. Virginia tells me there are new state laws in the works. NATIONAL ACT? Oh geez...gotta read that. But right now I am working on the flyer to pass out to the Masons tonite, as the attend their monthly meeting...... xxx Sarah ----- Original Message ----- From: Adrian Lopez To: Sarah Sent: Wednesday, June 08, 2005 3:08 PM Subject: Re: Never mind those email addresses! Hi, I am on the mailing list, so I've been receiving your e-mails on the attempt to help clean up the cemetary. I know you don't have a whole lot of time to research,( I will see if I can find some info. too) but try the Texas Historical Commission website. They do have guidelines to historic preservation, info. on placing property under the national register, and compliance with laws to protect historical and archeological sites. I think the cemetery may fall under the National historic preservation act. Now I don’t know the particulars about doing this, (who takes on the job, ownership.....)but I'm sure it is explained on the site. I do know this will keep the cemetery from ever being developed or destroyed, as for who will take the brunt of keeping it up to par, I don’t know. Hope this helps! Sincerely, Izel
