    3. Hi Mary, Good ideas, but I am on the Davis mailing list/a member of the MSN Davis group/the Yahoo Davis group and if you check ALL the Davis message boards you will find my posts. Also I post on the Fayette Co., Illinois sites. I look for Davis Family sites on the web. I am also posted on the surname boards for the husbands and wives of my Davis line. (Doud/DeLay/Goodin/Siebert/Grotts/Reavis.) There are more, my Davis were very busy people. And that was just John Lucas and Francis (Doud) Davis's children. G. 2. Listers I can not tell you how disappointed I was to see how Sarah was treated... and the reaction to her interests. I don't understand it. Haven't you all ever been excited about accomplishing something and making a difference -- and for her enthusiasm and desire to take action she was SHUNNED and people were told to unsubscribe? We live in very interesting times these days... You will find rude people everywhere.. and rude emails. That's what the delete button is for... and it was my impression that everyone should at least act like an adult. It isn't the weather -- its called intolerance, over-reacting and not listing to be helpful. Back to genealogy -- I hope the cemetery clean up is a success. I will email Sarah offline and ask her to contact the local media once it is all organized... that way you can let other people in the community know about it and perhaps recruit more volunteers and interest. In the meantime -- let's keep genealogy fun and exciting. By the way -- my ancestors are buried in the City Cemetery #3 In San Antonio -- they are KNOWLES and WEBSTER and VAUGHAN... all African American. Here is a listing for Bexar Co. Cemeteries.. some are transcribed. http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbexar/cemeteries.htm I would be very interested in knowing more about Black cemeteries in the San Antonio area. Traci Wilson-Kleekamp

    3. Richard, I don't think anyone has responded to your query. I THINK the Bexar County Marriages have all been microfilmed with copies on file in the Texana/Genealogy department of the San Antonio Public Library. You can visit their web page at http://www.sat.lib.tx.us/central/texana.htm and perhaps see if someone there can make a copy of the record you need. 3. Would any of you be interested if I applied to RW for a discussion list for Bexar Co. cemeteries? It might take a few days and if they won't have us - I could use yahoo. I'm the one who does the Bexar Co. TXGenWeb site and put up the site on the Alamo Masonic Cemetery and its neglect. Sorry, I haven't been more active, but have just returned from three weeks vacation and had been and still am a bit backed up on email. 3. Almost afraid to press reply-all -- It is such a joy to finally get emails from this site -- There was an African American buried in one of the city cemeteries that worked for one of the presidents in the White House. My daughter helped the Institute of Texan Cultures have a special display dedicated to her history. It was around 1998-99. Don't know if they put anything about it on permanent display. There was a special article in one of the San Antonio newspapers about the burial site, cemetery, and the display. Perhaps there would be something at the Institiue on that section of burial sites. 3. Ron and Others, You are right, and so are those who complained about receiving too much mail. The message glut could have been easily alleviated if people had just clicked on "Reply" instead of "Reply All" when responding. On this message, I clicked on "Reply All" as a lesson to everyone involved in this dispute. If I had clicked on "Reply" this message would have only gone to you, Ron. I do believe that the cemetery messages got off course when The Story Tellers series started, but it is done now. 3. I, for one, applaud that Sarah is trying to get something done about this--not a whole lot of people would do this. I have seen a great many messages on several lists regarding neglected and about to be developed over cemeteries and it breaks my heart. People should know and do something about this. Sarah, I have an idea. Why don't you just have people who are interested in this e-mail you and you can tell them how to help and keep them abreast of the situation? That way, the people that aren't interested (those who e-mailed in the past day especially) won't have to hear about it, and get upset. You know, I have been on this list for at least two years, and this is the most mail I have ever received--it is too quiet a list, in my opinion. The more requests and researches, the more things get done! Ponder that for alternative, and let's get back to solving our family's history and preseving it! Pat Hansen

    3. Hi, list members. I am just totally amazed by all this. People who are smart enough to subscribe to the mailing list and don't know how to unsubscribe. Go Back to Rootsweb.com, find this mailing list and unsubscribe. Duhhhhhhhhh. I subscribe to well more than forty mailing lists and I am not having a problem with any of them. And I can answer questions on them. Do lookups/use the chat rooms/belong to about six or seven surname groups. Wow, from the looks of it, I must be superwoman. Sarah is out there doing something very nessessary. There are a lot of people on other mailing lists doing the same thing. SAVING OUR PAST!!!!!!!! SAVING THE NEGLECTED CEMETERIES. How would you feel if you walked up to you grandparents grave and found someone doing some of the things that are going on in this cemetery????????????? I will also say that this is one of the quietest mailing lists that I do subscribe to. Now quit your griping and let us do what we have to do. If you don't want to then unsubscribe for a few weeks. Hopefully this will be taken care of by then. I really hope Sarah doesn't have to spend the next year fighting like this. It should be obvious to all how upset she has been. Tried to warn everyone the other night to quit ticking me off. G. Winters
