My grandmother, Rebeca Vega Mata was born in Coahuila in 1912. The family migrated to TX about 1913 -17....I know my great-grandmother died in Texas 1918. They said that there was a lot of turmoil, supposedly, Pancho Villa was from the region and there were a lot of bandits and revolutionaries. Many families did not feel safe. I was told that a wagon load of people were driving through town, La Agujita (?), near Piedas Negras, and asked my great-grandparents if they wanted to go with them. The great-grandparents loaded up their 2 babies (Rebeca & Jesus) and left....no planning and very short notice, basically left with very little, if any, possessions. I understand that the church records from Coahuila are on microfilm at Trinity University in San Antonio. If you come across VEGA or MATA there, I would love to know about them. Good Luck in your search. Norine

----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Cc: Sent: Monday, November 07, 2005 2:37 PM Subject: searching a Cousin Hello Listreaders, sorry my English ist not so good, but I hope there is someone who can help me to find our cousin ( this mail I also wrote to the list of San Antonio ). Since seven years I tried to find a cousin in USA and all I know is: She was living in Houston Texas for a while - could be about before 1990 - ??. Her name is Marlene NICOLAI, her maiden name is JUNET and she was born in France about 1942. Her parents are: Marie Therese JUNET, France and Paul MATRIAN, Germany ( he was a brother of my father in law ) and she married an US soldier ( about 1960 or a little later ) with the name Steve NICOLAI. Relatives told that she worked in a hospital in Houston in the operating room, but nobody has more information about her, most relatives died. Last contact we had were letters from her mother, from France, after WW II until Marlene was about 12 years old and the mother also was sending a wedding photo from Marlene and her husband and she told that they lived in Texas USA. The last we heard was a postcard from Marlene from 1990 France where she wrote that her mother died in Chateau le Brienne, France ( could be that she is divorced ? ). Last year I wrote to an undertaker in this village asking him if he knows the family and if he made burial for the mother of Marlene. And I was so happy that he told that he did and that he sent some mail to Marlene ( in 1990 ) to San Antonio, USA and he gave us address: Marlene NICOLAI, 231 Herweck Drive San Antonio, TX 78 213. I was so happy but the letter I wrote came back, because she moved. I could find out the she lived there for about 2 or 2 1/2 years, but the housing company can not ( or will not ) tell where she is living after this time. I think she is still living, she must be about 63 years old. So my hope is, someone must know her - or her husband - some friends, some neighbours, colleague from hospital, or so on, she lived in Houston for longer time about before 1990, or somebody has an idea for a way to find her. Or someone from her time living in San Antonio knows her. I would be very glad to find her and could take contact and write her. Regards from Bremerhaven, Germany Doris Matrian

I am requesting assistance as I am not familiar with anything on the Masonic Lodges. I am looking for any info that would be available to me on an ancestor. L. J. Dresch (Leonard Julius Dresch) is listed in the Worldwide Masonic Directory, 1860, as being in Post 6062, Alamo Lodge, San Antonio, Bexar County, as a merchant in Eagle Pass. I am wondering if there is info available where I can obtain info from a membership application, possibly any pictures, and info for successive years. Emily

He was born in St. Louis, Mo to John Lee and Myrtle Smith Lee. This would have been around 1924. He served in WW2 and was wounded in the leg. It is believed he had or has family in San Antoinio, TX or in that area. My mother was Virginia Cates Lee from Merriam, Ks. They separated before I was born in 1946. I would love to find some family on his side just to know that he really exists. I have been looking for as long as I can remember, I feel as if he was a dream that my mom made up. If ANYONE knows of this man please let me know. Thank You
