Howdy List! Actually, Vada Sutton, the County Clerk (and a genealogy enthusiast) has suggested to the West Bell Genealogical Society that they adopt as a project doing a county livestock brands collection and report. I didn't have a sense that the WBGS was interested in tackling that. The East Bell Genealogical Society, I believe, is working on collecting county probate information, for compilation into some sort of record, but I'm not sure. I've got a Plustek scanner and Pagis software, but efforts to scan the Story of Bell County has only generated garbled text... such that typing the text in in the first place takes the same amount of time! MaryAnn Bartlett is doing the Family History parts from the Story of Bell County (SOBC, for short) and is posting those to the Biographies Board. Other than the occasional contributor, that's where almost all of the entries are coming from, and she's doing a great job at it. The text from SOBC is coming from Ann and I, as we have personal copies of it. If you have your own copy, and want to prepare text from the SOBC to send to me (to be added to the web pages content), that will be okay. A number of WEB2000 volunteer-types are working on cemetery lists, and that's quite time-consuming for the bigger lists. That's also an area in which you can help... or take one of the lists we've sent to the Bell County Archives and take it to the listed cemetery for updating... that's going to be needed, too! Onward thru the fog...
