Several years ago, I spent some time at the newspaper archive center which is part of the UT Library system. At that time, I found some neat little tidbits to flesh out my g-g-grandparents a little. For example, I have copies of the cattle brands published on the front page of the newspaper in Belton in 1859 and some other odds and ends. Unfortunately that day I only had a few hours to spend and vowed to get back. Several years (!) later I'm actually going to keep that vow and go up there this weekend. Since that was pre-internet much less pre-web genealology mailing lists, I thought I'd share this information. Many (most?) of you may already know about this but just in case someone doesn't, here it is. Please make note -- this is a DIFFERENT collection than the newspapers maintained by the Texas State Archives. The State Archives actually have a MUCH smaller collection (and not as old) as what the UT system has.
