Here's a description of Little Elm Creek that may help in pinpointing the location....... LITTLE ELM CREEK (Bell County). Little Elm Creek rises one mile southeast of Pendleton in north central Bell County (at 3111' N, 9720' W). The stream, which is intermittent in its upper reaches, runs southeast for nineteen miles, through eastern Bell County, to its mouth on Big Elm Creek, nine miles east of Temple (at 3101' N, 9712' W). Stringtown is on Little Elm Creek nine miles southeast of Temple in southeastern Bell County. The community had a post office named String from 1901 to 1904 and a school called Dyess Grove, which served some seventy-six pupils in 1903. In 1931 String had two businesses and in 1948 was the site of a church, Dyess Grove School, and scattered residences. In 1964 the community was called Stringtown and was the home of a Dyess Grove Church. The community no longer appeared on State Highway Maps in 1988. Hope this helps.......By the way, there were "Stringtowns" in several other counties in TX, but this was the one in Bell County. My Father Willard Forrest Hargrove was born in the area in 1914. He told me once before he died, that the Hargroves had come from Limestone co AL and Giles co TN to work on a huge ranch there. I believe it must be near Troy as Hargroves still live there, and have a family reunion there in August each year.
