    3. Bell Surnames: JOHNSTON, CAST, MARSHALL, ELLIS My great aunt Lucy Marshall married S. N. (Newt) CAST, 5 May 1872. Louisa C. and Samuel N. are listed in the Giles County, TN census in 1880 and were residing on S. 11th in Temple, Bell County, TX in 1900. My ggrandparents Fannie Lee (Marshall) & James Gregory JOHNSTON were married in Randolph County AR moving from AR to Bell County, TX between 1886 & 1887. One son, Clarence Lester was born in Bell County, 21 Sep 1887, my grandmother, Noba Imo, was born in Temple, in 1891. The JOHNSTON Family returned to Randolph County, AR before 1893, but moved back to TX before their youngest son was born in Bell County in 1902. Family accounts indicate that after returning to TX he JOHNSTON's stayed with the CAST family in until they found housing in Bell County. A funeral card passed on to me reads S. N. CAST, born July, 29, 1848. Died Aug. 1, 1912. aged 64 years 2 days. I believe Lucy & Newt CAST son's wife was also named Lucy. One of my dad's cousin's recalls visiting Lucy & John when she was a child. I would guess this would have been in the 1920s. Somewhere I think I have some census notes showing John and Lucy listed in the 1920 census. In December 1906 my grandparents Edward Marshall ELLIS and Noba Imo JOHNSTON filed their marriage license in McLennan County. My father, Earl Odell, was born in October 1907. James Gregory & Fannie Lee (Marshall) JOHNSTON moved from Bell to Nueces County before the 1920 census. Their children, grandchildren and grandchildren have migrated in and out of central TX from the 1890s to the present. Fannie Lee & Lucy Marshall were both born in TN, the daughters of Sarah (GRILLS) and Richard MARSHALL. Sarah died in childbirth after the 1880 census. The family were in Lincoln County TN at the time of the 1880 census. As yet no explanation for Fannie Lee being in Randolph county has been discovered. Research continues, any connections will be welcome. Imo's family will host the "James Gregory Johnston Family Reunion" in Waco 24 June 2000. Jonelle Ellis Russell <ljrussell@earthlink.net>
