Forwarded for possible helps.. The land surrounding this cemetery belongs to the Pate family. It is east of the Ninth Grade Center, southeast part of town, north of FM2410 and west of Indian Trail. I talked to Frank Pate about this cemetery a month ago. He has given me permission to hop the fence and look about. I would like to help [or do it all with some guidance] catalog the graves and get the city [ha!] to take care of it [the law requires them to]. My goal would be some form of security[fence?], clean-up, more dirt for filling and restore what can be. Since Red Pate died [Frank's uncle], the briars have kept it hidden some. Vandals have destroyed more markers. Mary Hope's tomb stone is gone. A small chunk of marble with a few letters is left. I know the cemetery is registered somewhere. Back when, an article in the paper asked for folks to tell of any cemeteries, I called the number but this one was registered already. Red kept it cleaned up. As kids, we played there some. More folks moving nearby and tearing things up, destroy everything. I told the city it was there before they annexed us four years ago. It is time they own up to what is right :-) I understand there is a law forbidding the sale of a cemetery. Frank said this one is not in the Pate name. I hope someone has recorded the graves already? I undoubtedly missed one or two but I have eight down and know there are many unnamed sites there.
