Dorice: I am a desc. of that John Bowles who was killed near Uvalde. I have done extensive research on this family and am willing to share with anyone who has a connection to that family. John Bowles, b. 13 Feb. 1802, Hanover Co. VA. Killed on 28 Oct. 1859, at Guide Hill, near Uvalde Co. TX. m. Millie Caroline Pate in TN. abt. 1824. John and his sons were very famous Texas Indian Fighter there in Texas, and their exploits are listed in the book, by A.J. Sowell, "TEXAS INDIAN FIGHTERS: under his sons name. DOKE BOWLES. A full account of bravery by these early settlers are listed in this book, Bell Co. Tx. & Uvalde Co. is where most of this takes place. Anyone connected to this family. Contact me.
