Jody: I am from that family also, altho, John Bowles is not buried in the McDowell Cem. but on Guide Hill, near Uvalde Co. TX. where he was killed by the Indians. The story of his account is in , S.J. Sowell Book, "TEXAS INDIAN FIGHTERS". Caroline Bowles was the ten child of John & Millie Caroline Pate Bowles, while my desc. was the sixth child, Frances (Fanny) Bowles who married James Madison Townsend.
