My mother, Thelma Lee Jones Davis, mentioned to me not long before she died that she had been baptized in Coryell County probably sometime between 1920 and 1925.Mother was christened as a Methodist in Henderson County as an infant, but I am relatively certain the baptism to which she referred was in the Baptist Church, since her father, L.L. Jones, was the grandson of a Missionary Baptist lay preacher named Abijah Crain (Hardeman Co. TN). I have the impression that this may have been at a revival meeting -- I know it was in Coryell County, and I know the family was living at or near Oglesby circa 1923.
