I wonder if the Poor Farm Cemetery that was publicized last year (July and Sept. 2003 archives) on IH-35 near Pepper Creek might have been referred to as the East Belton Cemetery also, since it was northeast of town. It seems to have been a "lost" cemetery with no records, until the Highway Department publicized it last year. The Poor Farm was in Tennessee Valley and lies at the bottom of Lake Belton now. It is just northwest of East Belton Cemetery. However, I am thinking that the East Belton Cemetery was previously referred to as the East Belton Negro Cemetery. Joe can correct me if I am wrong on that. I stated earlier that Mitt Garner was buried in South Belton Cemetery but I was wrong, it is the East Belton Cemetery.
