Unfortunately the information I have was gaterhed by my brother who has since had a stroke so the source and details are sketchy. I THINK the DOD was 8/6/1865. His notes show he died in a prison camp, at Salado, Bell County, TX. Since I posted my original request, I found information that he may be buried in the "West Salado Cemetery'" located on West Village Road? He served in the Confederate Army, in Company D of the 55th in the Tennessee Infantry. Since the war was over by 8/6/1865, I don't understand why he would have still been in a prison camp. Maybe he wasn't in a military prison camp but instead was ini a criminal prison??? His wife/widow were in Andrew County, Missouri which is where he was originally from so it's additionally puzzling was to why he was in TX after the war instead of going back home. Any insight you may have would be greatly appreciated.
