In a recent trip to Belton I discovered a small cemetery in a new housing development in the Nolan Valley area near the Nolan Valley Baptist Church. I have photos of the graves there. All seem to be part of the Robert and Sue BATES family. Other graves are unmarked except for one large double headstone for R.P. and A.E. Bigham. For the Bates family there are markers for Girrie Lois and Lowry Bates, Little Annie age 2, a son Little... looks like Buch, age 2, Robert G. age 4. The cemetery is on private property but I could give you directions. I also found what was left of a small cemetery. My grandfather was responsible for getting a road built for access to the cemetery in the early 1900's. The only legible stone is the name Mary Lou Prince Apr 9, 1855 to Aug 19, 1936. Two vaults have been lifted above ground. The lot is in sad shape. It is just off Rock Quarry Rd. West of Belton if anyone is interested. I have photos I can send to anyone from this family.
