    1. [TXBELL] Admin Announcement

    3. As everyone can probably tell, I haven't been around as much as I would like the past few months to work on the TXBELL website beyond basic maintenance. I really had hoped to free up more of my time from work, but that really hasn't happened. There's still hope! (Crossing my fingers a layoff is not in the cards...heh.) Something I just realized is that this month is my fourth anniversary as coordinator of the TXBELL website, discussion list, amd message board. Hard to believe that much time has gone by since I assumed the duties from Bill Bost. I think I can safely say I've had the longest term out of the TXBELL coordinators! To mark this milestone, I am making a commitment to do an average of one update or addition per day for the month. These may range from validating and updating the links on the pages to creating new photo pages. Something may not get done every single day, but it is my intention to make it average out that way this month. We'll see if I eat my words come November 1. <grin> Sometime this week or next, I will be putting together a comprehensive plan for the future of the TXBELL site. Although we have quite a lot online already, there's more that I have queued up from people who donated material and there's even more we haven't gone after in the way of transcriptions. Look for several volunteer opportunities most definitely. Keep in mind the USGenWeb and TXGenWeb projects are 100% run and supported by volunteers. I believe with several people even giving a little time, we can accomplish a lot. We all gain from the Bell County resources on the website and virtually all of it was put there by volunteers who wanted to give something back. (Coincidentally, the very reason I volunteered to take on the coordinator position, because of the great people here on this list and other county lists across the country.) While many of these opportunities may include typing, most will not require a knowledge of web editing or that someone live locally. Until I post the announcement, please be thinking about something you would enjoy doing to help out. I am always open to suggestions. Thanks! Joe D. Deaver TXBELL Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbell

    3. Hi Joe, Where are you working? I hope you don't get laid off! I can help as long as I can do it from my house. Vicki Bell Reynolds Houston TX ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joe D.
