It indicated that she (Mattie McNurlen Ray ) was suspected of poisoning her husband (Robert E.Ray) and his two sisters (my recollection is that all three died) and mentioned their "young daughter Mary".(family bible records indicate Mary was born 12-11-01 in Santa Lucia, Pecos County Texas). It also indicated Mattie was being held in a Texas jail pending the investigation. I had to drop the subject as my mother was still living and she was upset to the point of hysteria that I had found it. After her passing I found the article had disappeared. Mattie subsequently married Isaac Prather in Cleburne (Johnson County?) on 7-24-1907. She gave birth to five more children of whom my mother was the youngest. I made the connection to John Wesley Ray when a relative sent me a copy of a newspaper article from 1926 announcing that Baylor University was honoring his 100th birthday. He! was my Aunt Mary's grandfather and the clipping had been in the family for some time. Obviously Mattie was exonerated but I am very curious for the whole story.
