I am a descendant of John and Caroline Simmons. I recently was able to locate the cemetery where John and Callie and my great-grandmother, Della Simmons Clemons are buried. Due to the great response that this mail list has evoked. Thank you for all you do getting out information to researchers. That Simmons cemetery located near Holland is in great need of cleanup. It is located on the farm of Roy Doskocil off of FM 2268. It is covered with Christmas cholla and Prickly pear cactus. I have scheduled a cleanup this next weekend, March 19 and 20th. We plan to burn the cactus, then rototil it into the soil and lay down sod before we finish. Once we have accomplished this cleanup we will begin purchasing headstones for all those buried there who have not previously been memorialized. Please contact me directly if you are a Simmons or Clemons descendant or you would like to participate in a good cause and I will provide you with directions. I plan to put up an awning and provide sunscreen, water, and sandwiches for those participating in the cleanup. Gayle Clemons Newkirk

I want to commend you on your efforts and wish you luck in getting the cleanup going. We started a similar venture with an older cemetery in McLennan County about 4 years ago and it is working well.
