"Nannie's Scrapbook" on the Bell County web page has quite a few lists of students 1930 and before. Possibly a search of that web site would list her name. The only Hammack in the 1930 City Directory for Belton is Mrs. Allie Hammack, wid. of G. L.; (Harvell, Willie Mae,) 413 N. Pearl. ----- Original Message ----- From: Julie Perry To: TXBELL-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, May 06, 2006 4:43 PM Subject: RE: [TXBELL] Laurie Anne Hammack You might try checking the 1920 and 1930 census, it would give her occupation. -----Original Message----- From: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com [mailto:gc-gateway@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of seaislandeast@yahoo.com Sent: Saturday, May 06, 2006 3:39 PM To: TXBELL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TXBELL] Laurie Anne Hammack This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. There is no indication on it that it was ever published. Apparently, she gave it to Shelby Taylor, a cousin of my father's. He passed it down to his sister, who later gave it to my father years later. I think that Miss Hammack may have been a school teacher in Bell Co. during the 1920's. That is the timeframe my father and his cousin attended school there. Also, there are references to the years 1923 and 1928 in some of the poetry in the book. There is one Hooper listed in the Story of Bell County under the Bio of John Henry Gunn. It states that their daughter, Maud Murral Gunn (Dec 12, 1893 to Apr 11, 1981) Married J. C. Machue and they adopted a daughter Lillie Jean Hooper. Is this Hooper one of yours? Hello Jody! Obviously someone had bid on this picture! My great aunt, Sarah Barnett, taught in Tennesse Valley before the turn of the century so I, too, am interested in getting this picture! I would not want to outbid someone with a connection. I do have a suggestion! Myrl, my husband, copies and touches up old photos (for our own family!) but I think he would be willing to do that same thing for this picture and make copies for those of us who are interested in it! At this distant date, I don't think there would be a copyright problem and if we were not doing it for sale (to make money off it!). What do you think? floy@austin.rr.com -----Original Message----- From: Jody D [mailto:jody@dillard.net] Sent: Wednesday, May 03, 2006 9:16 AM To: TXBELL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TXBELL] Tennessee Valley School Is someone on this list bidding for the photograph of the Tennessee Valley School? I have a picture of his headstone and would be glad for you to have it. Tell me his first wife's name and I will look and see if I took that one also. My relatives are Gibbs and Gatlins that are buried there and my genealogy husband encouraged me to take pictures of others in that cemetery.
