    2. Michelle R. Bezet
    3. I am looking for information on the James R. Ross family. He was born in Ala. His parents along with him and about eleven other children were on the 1850 and 1860 census of Cherokee County. Then on the 1870 census James R. is in Bell County with wife and children. His wife was Francis Ward. There son William married an Annie and Rebecca there daughter married Ben Poe. There were a couple of other children but have no information on them. James R. is still in Bell County in 1900 but I have no other information. I can't find James R.'s parents in 1870 but he had three sisters and a brother who went to La. and would love to find some members of this family. I have no idea what happened as his brother and sisters who went to La. where minors but no information on how that got there. Thanks for any help. Pat

    3. Hello everyone, I am sorry for any un-needed chatter I might have caused. Second, why don't we re-post to the list or do a first time posting for the new folks out there of our families. This way we can see all the "new" surnames or find some old ones that we have forgotten were out there and try to make some connections. It would not hurt I don't think to put in Subject line the surname and dates, also I would love to hear any stories of the life and times in Bell County that someone might have in their memory. We can put in the Subject line for example: Story of the barn raising at the Latham Home... Just a few thoughts from a fellow Bell County Hunter. My families in Bell County are but two really. The LATHAM's and FULLER's...at some point a ROBINETT, found his way to Bell County and married our Great Grandmother. Other names in the family of Latham are as follows, I don't have much inf on them, but they married into the Latham family. FINNEY LOTT. JOHN RALEY. MARY JANE BYRD. JAMES HARRIS. CHARLES BARTHOLEMEW. ALEXANDER ODEM. FRED STOCKTON. Thanks in Advance Debbie

    2. Hello, I am a new subscriber but not new to Bell county. I was a member of West Bell for a few years in the early 90's. Spam me if you like, but I do agree with Bill. I joined wanting to read queries, and information on Bell co. So far I have only seen one article that could be called genealogy and that is on brands. If you must , why not send that privately? I am sure there are many more on the list not interested . I know a great place that would love to have chatterers visit , it is called Reminiscences <reminiscences@listbot.com> , we have a great time there, speaking of the old days, cooking etc ... One more thing before I go, Bill was polite, he stated his opinion, and said Thank you. So do I, Thanks, Pat Lawton, OK

    3. Bill - My husband and I would be more than happy to volunteer to do a list for Bell County. I feel that we all get what we put back in to a project. It's difficult to find anyone who knows anything about one's ancestors and Bell County has been great for us. We have no lists, but if you would contact me, we can arrange either a fax or regular mail exchange of the information. I also have an HP scanner if you think that would work. Whatever you think is best - MJ and CG Pepper By the way, we live in Austin, -----Original Message----- From: Bill Bost [mailto:longwired@hotmail.com] Sent: Thursday, June 24, 1999 2:51 PM To: TXBELL-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TXBELL-L] Query Board Responses Howdy List! Actually, Vada Sutton, the County Clerk (and a genealogy enthusiast) has suggested to the West Bell Genealogical Society that they adopt as a project doing a county livestock brands collection and report. I didn't have a sense that the WBGS was interested in tackling that. The East Bell Genealogical Society, I believe, is working on collecting county probate information, for compilation into some sort of record, but I'm not sure. I've got a Plustek scanner and Pagis software, but efforts to scan the Story of Bell County has only generated garbled text... such that typing the text in in the first place takes the same amount of time! MaryAnn Bartlett is doing the Family History parts from the Story of Bell County (SOBC, for short) and is posting those to the Biographies Board. Other than the occasional contributor, that's where almost all of the entries are coming from, and she's doing a great job at it. The text from SOBC is coming from Ann and I, as we have personal copies of it. If you have your own copy, and want to prepare text from the SOBC to send to me (to be added to the web pages content), that will be okay. A number of WEB2000 volunteer-types are working on cemetery lists, and that's quite time-consuming for the bigger lists. That's also an area in which you can help... or take one of the lists we've sent to the Bell County Archives and take it to the listed cemetery for updating... that's going to be needed, too! 2. I too am new to site. I don't have a problem with deleting the chatter but sure wish there was more genealogy information listed. Researching the Allen family. Joseph was married to Adah Rensimer. It is believed Adah's father James Rensimer is buried in Bell Co. Maybe Pleasant Hill? They had 4 daughters Charlie (Dollie) she married R E Sutton, Annie mar Ben McIntrye, Genevieve mar John O'Conner and Sarah ( Sallie ) mar Grover Price. I remember my great aunt Genny visiting her sister Dollie in Belton, I believe they both died in Bell Co. in the mid 1960's. Also my great aunt Genny used to talk about using a ferry at Nolansville. Has anyone heard of that? The girls were born in the late 1880's to 1890's. Does anyone connect? Thanks Val

    3. Hey Bill, you will sincerely be missed. We can put CHATTER on our posts...that's no problem whatsoever...I didn't realize there were so many posts that they could fill up a mailbox...and then you can just delete what you deem to be uninteresting. But if leaving is your solution, I respect your decision. I am so sorry that you felt so offended you felt it necessary to e-mail us at the list and tell us to unsubscribe you. We can't do that. There is an address we are all sent when we join a list that we can use to unsubscribe. I don't remember it offhand but could find it if you really want to unsubscribe. Some of us researchers share our families' cultural tranditions in different ways. I enjoy the search and meeting the people but never take it or myself too seriously. My ancestors are dead and they aren't going anywhere anytime soon. More important to me, my life is going to be too short for not enjoying the brief passage of time I have left.
