    2. I am seeking information on Mary E HALPAIN, daughter of St Clair Halpain. Mary married a WHITLOCK. They had five children: Molly, James, Rosa, Jessie and Evaline. The 1900 census of Cauthron township, Scott Co AR states that the widowed Mary was born in AR. Two of the children were born in TX, two were born in AR. The father of these children was born in TN. The oldest child had already left by 1900. I don't know where she was born. Georgia

    3. Hi, everyone. I'm new to the list and I'm a 5th generation Bell Countian. I started doing genealogy research over 20 years ago and now have over 6,000 names in Personal Ancestry File. My ancestry list and history: Adeline Elizabeth Branham Moore, my great, great grandmother and widow of Nathaniel Wiley Moore, came to Bell Co. in the 1870's from Randolph Co., Alabama. She is buried at Salado cemetery with several children and grandchildren. Her children married Calhoun, Cosper, Sims, French. Amanda Sara Johnson Thornton Fletcher, great great grandmother and widow, came to Bell Co. in the 1870's from Alabama. She is buried at Sharp Cemetery, Rock Creek Baptist Church, on the Lampasas River, south of Youngsport with some children and grandchildren. (Her 1902 obit is posted on the Bell Co.genweb) William Norton and Henrietta Ellen Thorp Young, my great great grandparents, came to Bell Co. in the 1860's from Chickasaw Co.Mississippi. They are buried at Pleasant Hill cemetery in Nolanville with some children. I've traced the Thorp family back to 1700 in Virginia. John Henry and Charlotte Sophia Kamman Vieregge, my great great grandparents arrived in Galveston, Texas from Hanover, Germany in 1865. They are buried in Henderson Co., but lived in Bell Co. for awhile. I've lived in Belton almost all my life and graduated from Belton High in 1967 and UMHB in 1971. I'm enjoying the mail and it's great to meet others of you with roots in Bell Co. Ann Meade with roots in Bell Co.=20 Ann Meade =20

    3. Hello Everyone, My folks have been in Bell and Coryell Cos. for quite some time now. I have quite a bit of info on Joseph DENNIS since he was pretty high profile. Burrell HUGGINS ran/owned a general store at one point but I don't have much more on him. The rest of my folks seemed to be pretty quiet. Probably just getting on with the business of surviving. So, if anyone has any additional info, I would certainly appreciate it. MaryAnn: I have access the Bell Co books at the Dallas library and have looked at them pretty extensively. Maybe I missed something? Thanks to all, Sharon Dorman Subject: [TXBELL-L] BOONE, GLOVER, WRIGHT, DENNIS, NEAL, THORNTON, Hargrove Richmond Pearson Boone b 1803 KY came to TX in 1851 from AR. 3. Howdy Listers! As Listowner I have the pleasure/duty/responsibility/chore/task/privilege/misery (choose one or more) of running the TXBELL mailing list. (It's been a pleasure, so far!) If you are familiar with mailing list operations, you know the listowner has absolute control of the list and what goes into it. He/she can unsubscribe members without notice, reject mailing addresses, add subscribers, delete posts from the archives, and all sorts of other things. I haven't seen anything on the list recently that as yet warrants my intervention. Ya'll just be sure to play nicely and there won't be any callouts outside the saloon. Let's get on with sharing Bell County's history and genealogy. If you've got something about the County history or genealogy you think would be interesting to the list, please post it, especially given that the County's 150th anniversary of founding is upcoming next year. (There is to be a new web page, perhaps operational today, at www.vvm.com/sqc I think.) I, for one, am NOT a Bell County history or genealogy expert... but am enjoying the things you share about it. You folks are where much of this sort of info is held. If you aren't sure about the appropriateness of a post, send it to me first and I'll give you an opinion (it's one of my functions). If you have a problem with what's presently on the different web pages I webmaster (a function I've not done before) that's okay.... it's slow work, and developing better working concepts takes time.... we've all got other things we do that either are what pays our salary (our job) or are other things for which we volunteer to help (not everyone lives and breathes only genealogy). So, patience is appreciated. There are several of you who have offered to assist in inputting text, or updating history or cemetery information, or making suggestions about how to make the Bell County pages better. Thanks.. It's about time to fall back a couple of days and re-group to see where time is next best spent.
