What is the address and cost to obtain copies of marriage certificates between the years of 1887 and 1930 in Bell Co.? Thanks! Anita Researching: RICHARDS & THREADGILL in KY&IL POWERS & FULCHER in TX
> ... instruction to get *close* so that names and dates are readable. I don't know how "far" away they are, but your photo lab may be able to blow up just the headstone so that it is legible. It may not be cheaper, but it would save you the trip. If you ever got your scanner working, you could do it there also! Rich
Thanks! That made me feel better this morning. I think it is my addy that gives people the trouble...it looks like it is bartlett@ w m.com. Actually, it is bartlett@v vm.com...without the space of course. But thanks for trying...it really did make me feel a bit better this morning as I just failed miserably finding any information for two other persons and I just spent $44 for pictures for some of you of cemetery sites and not a one is readable...oh, they are nice shots of headstones but my cousin did not heed my instruction to get *close* so that names and dates are readable. I have three more cameras ready to go in for developing but.........she used those, too. So I was sitting here feeling like a miserable failure...now I feel better and will just start over! Sorry about the pictures...they were: LANGE, LINDEMANN, SCHAWE and others of this LANGE AND LINDEMANN group; MASSAR...well, anyway. Will let the list know when I have them done correctly. Bill really is super at this work, isn't he? Would love to work with him directly and learn to do all the things he can do with computers to get this stuff up and running. Yall have a great day! Just remember when you get anxious about finding your ancestors, they are out there somewhere and they don't have any pressing business that would take them out of town anytime soon. Thanks for the history bits. A very good idea. Dorice
Bill, I saw something like that on another web site just this week. I'll try to find it and forward it to you or give you the site one. It was interesting. I think it would be of interest to know what was going on elsewhere when various events were happening in Bell County. Did you know, for example, in 1850 when Bell County was being founded, California became a state, the Taiping Rebellion is occurring in China, old-age insurance is established in France, the University of Sydney is established in Australia, and it will be 26 years before the battle of the Little Big Horn (Custer- 1876)? Howdy.. No, I don't have one specifically for a Bell County page, but might if there seem to be a growing number of specifically Bell County-based ones, or where a significant number of Bell County ancestors were planning to attend. There is a site at TexGenWeb to submit requests for seminar/reunions to be listed, at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txsmith/txsem.html Let us know the family name "re-unioning" and we'll mention that on the TXBELL list, then details could be sent to the web address at rootsweb(?). It may be a good start. (If I can find a suitable spot on one of the sites, I'll see about adding some sort of link or extra page for reunions.. the Chambers of Commerce would probably love that!)
