    3. Bill, other than cemetery lists around the county, I don't think anyone has yet gone to the county records office and transcribed deaths. Go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ussearch.htm Enter the surname and choose TX. Then go through all the cemetery listings for the counties. Remember to check in Coryell and Williamson and Lampasas as they all used to be Milam County. As far as the birth certificate for the person born in 1943...I don't know if they would give anyone but a family member a copy. I was born in 1943 and (on most mornings I wake up still alive) if I ask for a copy of my birth certificate, I have to show my DL, SS card and if a relative asks for a copy for me they have to show that information plus sign an affidavit stating that they are a relative and are getting the copy at my request. The best thing would be to give that person the address for Bell County Annex and let them request in writing a copy of the birth certificate........IMHO.... If she was coming through Bell County between those dates it is a real possibility she may have been buried at the side of the road and any sign of her grave destroyed to keep the Indians from digging it up. 3. I apprieciate your response. I hope you don't mind me using you as a sounding board. Here is the story: My husband's ggrandparents were Jasper Nutun Simpson and Sarah Ann Fraley. His grandmother, Mrytle Simpson, was born in 1886 in Arkansas (according to the census). I found Mrytle and her new husband, John William Sutton in the 1900 San Saba census. They had been married for less then a year. (She must have married at the age of 14) John and Mrytle were married in Rogers, Bell County, TX. In a packet of genealogy material sent to my husband I found a marriage annoucement of Mrytle's father- Jasper Nutun Simpson and her step-mother, Frankie Stevens. I think the name Frankie is a nic-name for Frances. Other then the announcement, I can't find any record of Jasper Simpson. I can't find any record of her natural mother- other then the name being listed on the death certificate of Mrytle. To be honest, I haven't gone thru all the census of TX- I used the soundex index. And, I have searched thru Belton- which was where the announcement said. Since Mrytle was married in Rogers, perhaps i need to go back and search that census. The Jasper Nutun Simpson I found (same spelling) was in a different county. The wife's name was neither Sarah nor Frankie nor Frances. I think it was something like Iva. He was from Kentucky. And they had a 14 year old daughter listed. However, there were two younger children that were both 6 (maybe 4). The odd thing was that next door was another Jasper Nutun -- can't remember the last name. That family was from Arkansas. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you. He may have married in 1898, but things could have changed in two years--another marriage is not completely out of the question by 1900, though I believe the number of years married was one of the questions on the census. Could the woman's name be a nickname? Also, the census records are not mistake proof, and his place of birth could have been wrong.
