    3. I've searched high and low. Does anyone know where I might access a copy of the Holland Progress from 1972? I've not been able to find a library that maintains the copies. Does anyone have the address of their headquarters? Thanks!

    3. My maternal grandmother is Alma Amelia Reynolds b 2/15/1911 in Ben Arnold,Tx [Milam county] d 9/1992,Bell Co. She is one of ten children. Her father is Burton M. Reynolds b 1868 New Iberia, Louisiana. My Grandfather [Henry R. Flentge b 3/7/1911 in Wesley Lake,TX d 9/1987,Bell Co] moved in with me, on my step dad's place [Dr. Whitten]. He told my dad the place looked familiar and asked if there hadn't been a house at a spot he indicated. My dad said yes, there had been a two story house there. Such an enlightening conversation, the Cosper family lived in that house and had taken in and cared for my great-grandfather Reynolds during his last years. In 1993 I had my new home placed in the same location as that Cosper home. I assume Burton M. Reynolds died in Bell Co. Can someone tell me where to look and where to go in search of where and when he died? My grandparents were members of the Lutheran Church in North Killeen. Would the church have records? Thank you, Charlotte [McEwen] Allman

The next Indian depredations in Uvalde County came in 1859, one of the bloodiest years in the history of the Southwest. 3. FYI: There is a tiny cemetery with several large headstones and lots of "pole graves" located in the new subdivision just norteast of the Nolan Valley Baptist church where the McDowell cemetery is. It is adjacent to a home in the subdivision next to Mountain Creek Estates. The cemetery is cared for by one of the homeowners who was kind enough to let us look at the graves while attending the McDowell Family Reunion last June. I will try to find my pictures to get the list of names for you. One for sure was Swan Bigham and his wife. If anyone in Bell County is familiar with this little cemetery please let me know. I am related to Sam Bigham's wife Fannie Cowan. I would like to know the relationship of Swan to Sam. And if anyone can tell me if Sam was the son of Silas Bigham. Thanks, Jody Dillard

    2. Jody: I have a book of over 400 pages of BOWLES/PATE/BOLLING/WEBBER/ & TOWNSEND information, and their connections. Where do I start? I will soon have a lineage sheet on my Bowles Site, on Myfamily.com, but it isn't quite ready. Shouldn't I send this to your home E-mail or is this something that TXBELL is interested in? The lineage goes something like this. John Bowles, 1 John Bowles, 11 John Bowles, 111 b. abt 1648, m. Jane Benjamin Bowles, b. abt. 1690 d. 1767-68 m. Nancy M. Benjamin Bowles, b. 1720 d. 1768, m. Frances (Fanny) Bolling, b. 1774, d. 1869, TN. (John fought at Battle of Horsebend, in Ala. during the Creek War of 1812-1815.) Children: John, Martha, Joseph, Lucinda, James, William, Mary, Frances T. John Bowles, b. 1802, m. Millie Caroline Pate, in 1824, MS. Moved to Bell Co. TX. by 1850. (Known as, "HOG MY CAT" Bowles.) Children: Nancy Adaline, Hiram R., James Frank, Pricilla, John Booker, Frances (Fanny), Mary Jane, William B. (Doke), Greenville, Caroline, David Crockett, Emmaline, Mariah Elizabeth. The is a sample of the lineage and is all mostly up-to-date. So tell me what you need. Minabat@aol.com

    3. I looked in the book "Story of Bell County Texas, Vol.1", published by the Bell County Historical Commission. I found an article on page 245, about Comanche Gap that includes the cemetery on the Pate Property. It is called Mountain View Cemetery. It states there are 26 graves and lists names and dates. I found a couple of discrepancies that need verifying. I will post more later. Thank you, Charlotte [McEwen] Allman
