Does Little Flock Cemetery still exist, or with the weeds and growth, were tombstones turned under? Kay Frank>> Dear Kay, You will be glad to know there is not a word of truth in the tale about Little Flock Cemetery in eastern Bell County being plowed under. It is a very well maintained Cemetery. And is still being used for burials. It has an historical marker that tells the cemetery was started in 1860 when a stranger passing through on a wagon train died. They buried him there but the cemetery was not named until 1879 when a small Baptist church (built in 1848) was moved from Sunshine and relocated next to the graves that had accumlated. The cemetery and church ground was donated by the Moore family. The Moores owned and operated a grist mill and a cotton gin. The name Little Flock Baptist Church and Cemetery was chosen from Luke12:32. We live only a few miles away; and would be happy to search out your family gravesites there. 3. Thanks Joe for the info on the crash at Crush. Say that real fast and keep your teeth in your mouth. These are some good sites to obtain info on the crash. In 1896 Granddaddy Wilcox would of been nearly 9. He died in 1977 and still remembered seeing the locomotives crashing together. His father died in AR in 1895, so this puts them back in TX by 1896, which I didn't think they were there by then. Thanks again!! Kay Frank ---------- > From: Joe D. 3. Actually, there are Sesquicentennial events going on throughout the year. Tomorrow's event involves rededicating the remodeled old courthouse in Belton at "Bell County Day." This is the actual anniversary of Bell County, on January 22. There's also a 4th grade poster exhibit opening that day at 201 Main. The April 22 event is called the Charter Oak Celebration. It includes: - Planting of oak tree at Bell County Courthouse - Family Picnic in the Park - 2-4PM Opening of the Sesquicentennial Exhibit at the Bell County Museum 201 N. Main Belton, TX For a complete list of the Sesquicentennial events this year, go to: http://www.vvm.com/sqc/events.html Joe D. 3. Sorry I didn't give a better location while ago. Little Flock Cemetery is East of Temple, .5 miles south of Hwy 53, so my questions are: When was the cemetery first established? Do any of the graves still exist? Did someone 'plow' the cemetery under, if so, what year? Does anyone have a cemetery book that lists the people buried there, and are there any Sullivan's buried at Little Flock? 3. Is anyone researching the Sullivan line in Bell Co TX? I am researching Iona Sullivan b Monroe Co MS 1864, d Henderson Co TX 1906 (we think) of black jaundice. Even though we have been told she is buried in Malakoff, no proof has been located. Her father, Zephaniah M. Sullivan was in Henderson Co TX in 1900 and by 1910 he has died. His widow, Cynthia Elizabeth (Bettie) Gordon Sullivan can be found on the 1910 Bell Co TX census. If anyone has a book that shows burials at Little Flock and the people buried there, please let me know. It is said that due to overgrowth one year, some people 'plowed' the cemetery under. I assume it now looks like an open field. Can anyone in that area verify this? Does Little Flock Cemetery still exist, or with the weeds and growth, were tombstones turned under? Kay Frank

    3. Any reference to Rev. Samuel Galloway would be greatly appreciated. He was a Presbyterian minister for at least ten years (1870-1890). he was also in charge of a school. He is listed in the Princeton Alumni records as to have died in 1890 in Bell County TX. I have never been able to place him on any document. I would really like to know if he is buried in the Bell county area. His wife was buried in Madison, Florida after the turn of the century.
