If no one asked me to remove their e-mail address in response to my survey, I assumed they are still interested in being listed for that surname. Any bounced e-mails resulted in that entry being deleted. If you would like to add your BELL COUNTY surname to the list, drop me a note with the surname, your name, and e-mail address. To be fair to your fellow researchers, please only submit surnames of people who actually lived in Bell County at some time in their lives. 2. Joe D. Deaver
    3. There are now more details available online concerning the Charter Oak Election Day celebration coming up on April at: http://www.vvm.com/sqc/charteroak.html This event is one in a series of events taking place as part of Bell County's sesquicentennial celebration. "It will commemorate the election held under the shade of the Charter Oak Tree in April 1850 when voters affirmed that they wanted to proceed with forming their new county. The state of Texas had authorized formation of Bell County in a law that went into effect on January 22, 1850, and now area voters had to demonstrate that it was their desire to create their new, local government." I believe we had discussed wearing a blue ribbon to the event to signify a subscriber to this Bell County Rootsweb discussion list. I plan to wear mine. I hope to see others do so as well! Joe D. 1. [TXBELL-L] Bell Co Surname List Cleanup
    2. Joe D. Deaver
    3. Looks like the surname list cleanup turned out to be more work than I anticipated. However, I am nothing if not thorough. I have made my way through the A's and B's so far. About half of the e-mail addresses listed bounced. I have now removed those e-mail addresses from any surname affected. As I progress down the alphabet, the bad addresses should become less common due to the progressive elimination. It was taking far too long to avoid sending multiple e-mails. If you have your e-mail address listed more than once, please excuse the multiple update requests (one for each surname) should they occur. If you receive a notice and your information is correctly listed, it is not necessary to respond back. Unless the message bounces or you request a modification, your listing will remain intact. I have been keeping on ongoing folder of updates at each stage, so if anyone wants to be proactive and send me a correction or addition, feel free to do so and I will include it in the next scheduled cleanup (about every two days). The Bell County Surname List is at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbell/surname.htm Thanks for your cooperation... Joe D. Deaver BellCoTX Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbell/ ancestry@deaver.com

She said there was going to be some kind of celebration honoring the "Founding Fathers of Bell County" one of them being an ancestor of ours, Joseph Dennis. She did mention something about "Charter Oak" Unfortunately she will not be attending, due to the very recent death of her husband. Could you please send me some more detailed information, including times & places. She had turned our names in to receive some, however nothing has arrived & I think we need to make lodging reservations ASAP. 1. [TXBELL-L] where is 1860 census??
    2. Hi everyone, I finally found my ancestor and his relative in the Bell Co. 1860 census that I ordered. Now, when I tried to order the microfilm of this census and the 1870 census there weren't films for order. Do the census records exist or were they lost? I am looking for the information in the census on Alfred Evans and T.T. Evans and their families in the 1860 census. Thanks for any clues! Janine
