    1. [TXBELL] MKT train wreck - possible info
    2. Carl Williams
    3. Hello Billy22 - I don't know if you have received any info on your query about a train wreck, but I will send this to you for everyone to see. There was a "staged" train wreck in September 1896 in the area north of West, TX. I was just reading about it in "Handbook of Texas Online". I thought that wreck might be the one you were asking about, though it is earlier that the time period you mentioned. You can go to www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online, enter "train wreck", in quotes, and get about 7 articles. The one I read is about #3. If you think this could be the one you are interested in, I might suggest you contact the newspapers in Waco, Hillsboro, or Temple, or even the MKT, for more information. Best wishes to you in your search. 1. [TXBELL] Surname Pages Updated
    2. Joe D. Deaver
    3. Guess most of you have been wondering where I have been. I've been lurking, but unfortunately not participating much or working on the website. Work hours and the new house continue to take up most of my time. I do have several updates lined up for this week, starting with the surname list updates I have completed this evening: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbell/surname.htm As the week goes by, I hope to work on updates for several cemetery pages and add a couple more sections for family photos. I previously did some work on converting Mary Duke's alpha index for Hillcrest Cemetery burials to web format. I still need to create a page pointer index table, but you can see what we have so far at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbell/cem/hillcrest/index/hillcrest_index.html The time situation does not look to improve in the near future, but I will continue to put what effort I can into adding more material to the Bell County pages. I really think I am going to have to solicit for a couple of assistant coordinators from our volunteers to make the workflow a little more efficient in addition to getting to the new projects. Thanks Joe D. Deaver TXBELL Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbell

    1. [TXBELL] 1900 Census Look Up
    2. I subscribe to Census images on Ancestry.com   Their version of the 1900 census is not indexed. I am trying to locate information on Alice Cora Williams.  First married to J.M. Cox in Bell County around 1890.   Later married to ? Hightower.  She was last known to live at Cameron, Milam County, in 1935.  I have been unable to locate any documentation of her using Internet sources. If anyone on the list subscribes to the images on Geneaolgy, I would apprecite a look up.  I am looking for an entry for Alice Cox or Alice Hightower in either Bell County or Milam County.  I am also not sure how long she was married to Cox.  The listing might be under the Cox name.  She had a child named Robie (Robert?) Cox born some time between 1890 and 1900.  Any help appreciated. Larry

    1. [TXBELL] Robert Williams, Bell County, Texas
    2. Seeking any information on Robert Williams. Born 1862, Pickens County, Alabama. Recorded in the 1870 census of Pickens County. Recorded as age 18 in the 1880 census of Phillips County, AR. The Williams' moved on to Bell County, Texas, where they reportedly arrived in 1883. They settled near Holland. Robert's mother passed away in 1892 and is buried in the Dallas Cemetery near Holland. One of Robert's brothers, Andrew moved to neighboring Milam County before 1900. Another brother, Benjamin moved to Grayson County before 1897. Robert is not mentioned as a survivor in the obituary of the brother Ben indicating that he died before June 1935. Does anyone recognize this Robert Williams?

    3. I received the same email about E-Bay. I deleted it right away because I have never traded on E-Bay. But, I could sure write a book on Identity Theft! My purse was stolen going on two years now. The only thing that saved me for not paying for all the merchandise and credit card applications was that they had broken into my vehicle. I had a police report. The perpatrators waited 9 months to start using my checks, social security card, driver's license, but tried to use the credit cards right away. I notified the 3 credit reporting agencies (which took some doing). They racked up thousands of dollars in instant credit and cashed the checks out-of-state. The stores had them on security tapes of them using my checks and applying for instant credit. They came back to this state and tried to return some of the merchandise and was almost caught. With the help of the stores, I found out who they were and reported it to the Police Fraud/ID Theft Department and it took months and lots! of phone calls from me for them to write up a report for me. The people that did all this damage to my credit were never arrested or anything else. The stores where the merchandise was purchased did not persue the perpatrators for prosecution and wrote it off as a loss to the stores. With the stores not prosecuting and the police department not doing anything, no wonder that ID theft is so easy. I have just touched the "tip of the iceberg" for the problems I have had with my ID theft. My biggest problem now is that I cannot go out and purchase a vehicle, apply for a loan, or purchase a house. I cannot just throw "junk" mail (credit card applications mostly) away as before, I have to open it and make sure that the people have not tried using my ID again. So, I have an idea what your son-in-law is going through and I hope some day it will all end for him. 2. Bill & Gayle Cloud
    3. I want to share something that happened to us yesterday, as I think folks need to know about this. We received an email from eBay saying that we had been suspended from trading until we filed an update of our personal information. There was a link to a form that asked all sorts of personal information, including social security number, complete banking information, pin number to ATM cards, passwords to eBay and PayPal accounts...just about everything that could be known about us. Assuming that this was legitimate, we filled out the form. THEN we learned that this was something eBay calls "Spoof Email"...someone gaining access to accomplish Identity Theft! The term is misleading, for it is no "spoof"! I immediately called the bank and froze our accounts (we live on direct deposits for retirement). I changed the passwords on eBay and PayPal. I notified the Social Security Administration of the situation. But it is going to take lots of time and trouble to change everything over...will have to have a new bank account, have to notify credit bureaus in case someone uses our data to get credit, notify all the direct debits on our account (we pay bills online automatically)...you can imagine. If you trade on eBay, I suggest you access their help pages and read about account/identity security. It will be worth your time. And if you get an email asking for your personal information, send the email to ebay [email protected] so that they can investigate. Bill and Gayle H. Cloud

Surnames: WOLF, ADAMS, SMITH, TINNIN, SAPP, WALLIS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CkB.2ACI/1884 Message Board Post: I would like assistance in locating information about the death of this young wife and mother. I believe she and her husband Asa M. Wolf, came to the county in 1867 with her parents ,John Quincy and Elizabeth Avarillo Tinnin Adams. The couple had a daughter Georgia A. Wolf born in AR in 1864 and a son Urah Lee Wolf born in 1868 in Texas. There were other Wolf and Adams families on the wagon train from Izard County AR to Texas. Azariah and Amanda Wolf Tinnin were part of the group and they were in Salado when he died in 1869. Asa's parents may have been part of the group also. they were George Washington and Malinda McFelch Wolf. Two of their daughters married and lived in Milan County. One married Dr. J.H.P. Wallis and one married Dr. Sapp of Cameron. Our family records say Sarah Adams Wolf died in Bell County but gave no burial data only the death date. Would there be any way to locate the burial site from the date only? Our records show that Asa M. Wolf had a sec! ond marriage in Robertson County to Myra Smith in 1875. So, I do not know when he left the area of Bell county for Robertson and eventually settled in Coryell County for the 1880 census. Sarah Adams Wolf's father died in Coryell County in 1904. Any help you could give me in this matter would be greatly appreciated. [email protected]
