Thanks to Wendi Cassel, we now have more grave photos on the Resthaven Cemetery webpage. I have also converted the McCann Cemetery page to the new format and location, plus adding a news update to it. For these and other updates, see our "What's New?" page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbell/whatsnew.htm Enjoy... Joe D. Deaver TXBELL Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbell
Is there anyone on the list that could help Ross with this one? Hi Jody Could you give me some guidance please. I was told I had an ancestor named Bigfoot Ray who was part Indian. He was shot and killed in Rogers Texas in a bar probably in the early 1900's but maybe as late as the forties. I was told he was buried in an Indian cemetery between Rogers TX and Gause TX. I know that is not much to go on. I don't know if Ray was his first name or his last name but probably his last name. Would you know of an old Indian cemetery in the Rogers area or would you know of someone living in the Rogers TX area old enough to remember a shooting in a bar in Rogers TX or might have heard stories about it? Thanks, Ross
Hi: I am trying to find where my grandfather Henry Homer Smith might be buried. He was living in Bell County near Midway on the February 1920 census. He died from T.B. on March 11, 1920. His kids were admitted to the State Orphans Home in Corsicana, Texas on August 9, 1922. Would anyone have any information? Also, he had two sons who served in WWII. Would the military have records of their parents and their birthplaces? I know that Henry Homer, Sr. was born Sept. 10 in Miss. He married Willie Hester Locke Jan. 10, 1905 in Corsicana, Texas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. --- Patricia Ruskauff --- [email protected] --- EarthLink: The #1 provider of the Real Internet.
I have now updated the Greathouse Cemetery page. Mary Duke just sent me a burial plot map that she compiled for Greathouse. I have converted it to HTML and linked it on the cemetery's page. I probably need to tweak it a bit more, since Netscape's view is off a bit. However, it looks great in Internet Explorer and Opera. http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbell/cem/greathouse/ Enjoy... Joe D. For those of you who were awaiting the new inventory of Greathouse Cemetery, it is now in our archives. Many thanks to Mary Duke for walking the cemetery and compiling the data for a current listing! http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/tx/bell/cemetery/greath03.txt I am working on updating the Greathouse Cemetery webpage as well. I think these belonged to an aunt who lived in Waco. Lena
Hi , I have a Bertha Lemmons born 1985-died 1934 in Dallas. Her father was John Wesley Lemmons & America McFarland-Lemmons. However, I do not recognize the other names mentioned in your email. I guess you don't have additional information on them? They moved from Bell County TX to Dallas County TX & lived in Dallas between 1922-1945. That is one of the names but have not seen David or Clementine Smith in the group of pictures. Unfortunately they are not identified. There is a Jossie Lemmons - a post card is written to her from Fannie.
Ric, if you go our main archives page, there is a search engine which will allow you to either search just Bell County or all of Texas within the archive files. All but one of our transcribed cemeteries are included in the archive files. (Killeen City Cemetery is in adobe format on the main website.) I also put an archives search engine on the TXBELL home page. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tx/bell/belltoc.htm Good luck... Joe D.
