Surnames: TURNER, BROWN, Shields, Suber, Allison Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CkB.2ACI/1948 Message Board Post: Looking for information on where Jack and Julia TURNER are buried (and exact dates of birth & death). Jack Turner married Julia BROWN and they first lived in Upshur County. She was the aunt of Dr. T. J. ALLISON. I believe they first moved to Ellis County and later to Bell County. They had 6 children: Oscar, Joe, Monroe, Fannie, Eula and Ida. Eula married a Mr. SUBER. Jack Turner died in 1874. After his death Julia married a Mr. SHIELDS, and lived for a few more years. In Dr. Allison's autobiography, he says they settled about five miles east of Belton. I am assuming they never returned to Upshur County, and are buried somewhere around there. Thanks for any help.

I find her on the 1870 census, but lose track of her from there. Regards, Zen

    3. Hello List, It's been a while since I've been in touch, but I'm looking for information on M E Bartley (we believe it is Mary Emma - at least we know it's Emma) Bartley who was born somewhere in Texas and she married my great grandfather Joel Benjamin Rogers (JB) in August of 1880 in Bell Co., TX.  I would like to know any information anyone might have about her...who her parents were, where she might have been born, etc.  She seems to be one of those people who is very hard to find anything about and I have not been able to locate any information on her. If anyone knows anything about this family, I would be grateful for the information. Thank You In Advance, Eileen Rogers Mullins [email protected] _________________________________________________________________ MSN Toolbar provides one-click access to Hotmail from any Web page – FREE download! http://clk.atdmt.com/AVE/go/onm00200413ave/direct/01/

    2. Joe D. Deaver
    3. David, if you would like to send the Bell files to me on a CD, I can upload them directly to the archives. Or, as our state coordinator David Morgan mentioned, you can send both county's file to our state archive manager Lola Withrow and she can do the same. I think there had been some discussion about the poppet alternative before with the Texas archive staff. Perhaps David can let us know what the substance of that was. Thanks! Joe D. Deaver TXBELL Coordinator http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbell -----Original Message----- From: David L. Casey [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, March 17, 2004 9:58 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [TXBELL] System of archiving files Greetings, I subscribe to quite a number of Rootsweb Listservs, and have a lot of documents pertaining to Bell & Williamson Counties in Texas (as well as the related surnames). I'm curious if this system, utilized by Mrs. Crilley for some of the Georgia county list-servs might be able to be used for our Texas counties (the poppet.org system) as I think this would serve to expedite sharing of information. Any List-serv administrators or other Rootsweb officials with comments are welcome to write me and ask about these systems in re: how they work, etc. I have CSA pension applications, marriage licenses, memoriams, etc., all old and handwritten that I could transpose easily and create files for future reference to our Texas list-servs (and I'm sure others have similar items with similar utility).

Surnames: Ray, McNurlen, Prather Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CkB.2ACI/1529.1532.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Sometime back in the 70's I found a faded Texas newspaper clipping in my deceased grandmother's bible. It indicated that she (Mattie McNurlen Ray ) was suspected of poisoning her husband (Robert E.Ray) and his two sisters (my recollection is that all three died) and mentioned their "young daughter Mary".(family bible records indicate Mary was born 12-11-01 in Santa Lucia, Pecos County Texas). It also indicated Mattie was being held in a Texas jail pending the investigation. I had to drop the subject as my mother was still living and she was upset to the point of hysteria that I had found it. After her passing I found the article had disappeared. Mattie subsequently married Isaac Prather in Cleburne (Johnson County?) on 7-24-1907. She gave birth to five more children of whom my mother was the youngest. I made the connection to John Wesley Ray when a relative sent me a copy of a newspaper article from 1926 announcing that Baylor University was honoring his 100th birthday. He! was my Aunt Mary's grandfather and the clipping had been in the family for some time. Obviously Mattie was exonerated but I am very curious for the whole story. Any information would be appreciated,
