    3. The S.J. Walker mentioned was my G'Grandmother Sarah Jane who lived in Hemphill's Prairie..she died Feb 16, 1909 and is buried in family cemetery there. Martin Walker is brother to her husband William Walter.. Martin died Mar 05, 1889 and shares an obelisk monument with William Walter who died just a few months prior. Martin emigrated to Texas from Madison co. Ala. in 1835, was private in 1st Regt. Texas Volunteers, Bastrop men of San Jacinto..rostered on April 21, 1836 serving under Col Edward Burleson. He rec'd 640 acres land for participating in the Battle of San Jacinto..land granted May 15, 1839. Martin, having been wounded in shoulder, also received one league of land for that, in accordance with an act of Congress. This info obtained from Bastrop Co. Historical Society Archives.
