    1. [TXBASTRO] Oakwood cemetery
    2. I don't know if anyone is working on the Oakwood Cemetery in Travis County, TX. BUT you can call and ask about a name and they will look on microfilm for you. You may want to call the Oakwood Cemetery Office to check out your other last names.  There are so many familiar names there.  The onsite office is 512-453-2320 and the main office is 512-478-7152.  The onsite office is open Monday through Saturday 8 to 4:30 and the other is open Mon to Friday 8-11 and 1:30-4:00.  When I was looking for where the Mabry's were buried I called and went over to the cemetery. It has 22,000 graves. The main phone number has an answering machine but they never called me back. I reached someone at 4:15 and he was very nice and helpful.  He also told me exactly where to turn, how many water faucets to count and was not bothered at all with my jabbering about how long we've been looking for this bunch.   There was some Walkers there with huge markers and a placque but I don't remember the first names. The Babe of the Alamo is buried there and Capt. Terrell, plus many that the streets of Austin are named after. Since this was the first cemetery in Austin, many pioneers of the area were buried there. There is also the Texas State Cemetery and it is on line, with pictures. People had to qualify to be buried there, such as being a government official, or dying in the civil war home. Several folks from Bastrop were reinterred there. I too am frustrated by other states. Some only because the courthouses were burned during the civil war (Early/Baker counties in Georgia). I've been quiet on the site lately because I've been trying to break through some of my brick walls in Georgia. I hope one day that the information will magically appear on the net somewhere for me to find so it is important that we all share what we have so as to help the next person that may be stuck. Take care.
