    3. I don't know about Poe Prairie. Youngs Prairie is a few miles south of Elgin, just off highway 1704. Here's an excerpt from "A History of Elgin, Texas 1872-1972": The history of Elgin would not be complete without the history of Perryville, or Hogeye, as it was nicknamed, located 2 1/2 miles south of the town of Elgin. The community was called by three different names. The post office was officially named Young's Settlement, and the churches and Masonic Lodge carried the name Perryville. The name Hogeye was given to the stage stop in the Litton home." From "History of Bastrop County, Texas 1846-1865": " . . . various notations in commissioners court records use several terms for the area, including Youngs Settlement, Youngs Prairie, Grand Prairie, and Perryville."
