>From the 8/19/1899 Bastrop Advertiser, Thomas C Cain, editor and proprietor: (spelling left as was written in paper) Commissioners court: The August term of the Commissioners Court met in regular session Monday, August 11, 1899, with Judge J. B. Price, county judge, presiding, Commissioners Hewatt, Tally, Miller, and Seruggs; W. E. Jenkins, clerk: Geo. W. Davis, sheriff. The entire first and part of the second day was consumed by the Court in considering road matters. After concluding the road business, the Court proceeded to examine and adjust such accounts as were presented against the county. The Court then proceeded to har and pass upon Confederate pension applications. Out of a total of 86 applicants, 62 were approved, 15 continued for further proof and 9 rejected.
