>From Bastrop News: Martin Walker, died March 5, 1889 in Bastrop Texas, born March 25, 1814 in Madison County Ala. In him was manifested the highest and the best type of American citizenship. He lived to a good old age--always faithfully discharging his duty to his fellowman, to society and to his country. He immigrated to Texas in 1835, and in the spring of 1836 he enlisted in Capt. Jesse Billingsley's company. In the battle of San Jacinto he was severely wounded. But few of those who fought with him on that eventful day, yet survive. Martin Walker having never married, died in the home of a favored nephew Eddie Beauregard Walker of Lockhart, and was buried in family cemetery in Hemphill's Prairie, sharing the same headstone with a brother William Walter Walker who died December 25, 1888. ************************** Died At the home of her parents in Lockhart May 29th, 1898, Edna Storey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.B.
