Congratulations and congratulations to Bastrop Researchers who will and have benefited from your efforts. If I were making a choice (given the fact that David was willing to give up the site), I would have voted for you hands down. Once again, Congratulation and please keep up the wonderful work you have started. Maryann D. Moseby Listkeeper
Congrats! From even the short period of time that I have been on this list - your energy and dedication is noted and appreciated. Keep up the good work Tammy. Dale
Wanted to let you guys to know that David Stewart asked me if I would like to be the Bastrop County Coordinator for rootsweb. I have accepted. A special thanks to him for the work he has been doing and getting the site started. I am in the process of transferring my files from the freepages page to the Bastrop County Page. I think all the links work, with some of the links going from the Bastrop page to the freepages page where the files are currently located. So start at the Bastrop page to access information. http://www.rootsweb.com/~txbastro/bastrop.htm. Let me know if something doesn't work or if the files get corrupted during upload. I have also created a new email address to concentrate on Bastrop queries. I have the other one also in case you have it in your address book. The new one is Bastropcc@aol.com and the old one is Owentk@aol.com. I hope to be able to work with all of you to get as much free information on-line as possible. Working together and sharing information is my goal. Take care

I found this on another list today and thought I would pass it along. Also don't forget that USGenWeb has a massive undertaking to get all the Census online. I know that we all have to let off steam sometimes and sometimes become impatient with people that are new to computers. However, that impatience in the form of sarcastic remarks, jokes or arguments will not be tolerated on this list. This list is for Genealogy. We will not be discussing and arguing controversial topics that generate a lot of hate mail and hurt feelings. Please keep such topics off line. If you have a problem with comments of someone on the list, please bring the comments to my attention and I will deal with it offline. These lists will not degenerate into a battleground for anyone's personal opinions or arguments. If you have questions, please reply to me personally at: mdmcounty@aol.com I promise to respond and deal appropriate with any complaints directed to me privately. I will also deal appropriately with those that decide to take their personal opinions or attacks to the list. Maryann Dixon Moseby Listkeeper mdmcounty@aol.com

I just added census indexes for 1840, 1860, 1870 and 1880 to my webpage. I have a lot of work to do on them and hope to turn them into transcriptions of the census'. No, I haven't put it there yet. I'm typing them up and sending them to you guys first and then later will put them in one file and send them to the archives. I don't have the whole alphabet though, like T's (what I need) unless the continuation in a later paper can be found. I also have the list of the guys that were drafted and their number. That is more lengthy and I will send them to the archives too. I put some more stuff on my site, like the school list and red cross donation list, plus links to the Texas Historical Society page and the Texas State Cemetery. Take care and happy hunting. Oh, the Bastrop Library has more cemetery books, census indexes, family trees, local info supplied by researchers here in Bastrop and more books than the Smithville library does in case someone has a short timeframe. The Smithville library does have a good microfilm library and the reader will make copies. A greatuncle James Walter Walker, b. abt. 1859, drowned in Colorado River 1884..would there be any record of his death or burial, possibly in court records?? I looked thru all cemetery postings when Tammy Owen supplied them online but saw nothing..don't think he was just swept away and body never recovered..would someone who might regularly visit Bastrop courthouse take a look to see if he has a recorded death and/or burial?? There's surely not a hurry for this, but thanks if you do.. Ed Walker B'wood, Tx edwalker@web-access.net
Does any one have access to the library in Smithville. They have a cemetary book with a map and listing of who is buried there. I can give details if anyone can help. Georgia Copper King Lodge P O Bx 553 Red River NM 87558 505-754-6210 cklrr@taosnet.com
