Tammy, That is wonderful you are able to go to the courthouse and get information. Also that they still have books in the corner just waiting for you to find them. Good job. Check out the 1914 to 1915 vehicle registrations. I found a journal in the basement of the courthouse with these entries. The first sets of numbers do not have dates with 1914 being the earliest with a date. It is possible that the ones without dates are earlier in the 1914 year. From the main page, take the link about vehicle registration. 1860 census images. I've been uploading for several weeks now and don't have all the images online yet. So if you look at the index and your person is on page 60 or more, it will be online soon. The index now has links to the page the person is on. From the main page take the census and tax link, then click on the 1860 index. Commissioners Court Volume A. I scanned 120 pages of it and will get the rest later. I'm uploading these pages now. I made an index with the page number, subject and the names of the people that are mentioned. This is interesting reading as it first starts out as the Town of Mina 4/14/1837. >From the main page, click on court, then Commissioners Court Vol A. Pages 1 to 20 and 100 to 119 are on now. After these are uploaded I'll go back to uploading the newspaper pages. And about the election, the November 1860 election that is. Here's the electorial count for that year: Lincoln and Hamlin: CA 4; CON 6; IL 11: IN 13; IA 4; ME 8; MAS 13; MI 6; MN 4; NH 5; NJ 4; NY 35; OR 3; PA 27; RI 4; VT 5; WI 5: Total 180 Douglas-MO 9; NJ 3 Total 12 Breckenridge and Lane.- AL 9; AR 4; DE 3; FL 3; GA 10; LA 6; MD 8; MS 7; NC 10; SC 8; TX 4 Total 72 Bell and Everett-KY 12; TN 12; VA 15 Total 39 Whole electoral vote, 303. Lincoln's majority over all, 57. Ancestry.com now has the census images online for the 1790 US census and Texas counties for 1920 (including Bastrop County.) I don't know if it's locked for use by subscribers only. I went there from the Bastrop page and got to them without having to put in my password so hopefully you can see them right now without subscribing. You have to download the plugin to be able to move the images around and zoom in. >From the Bastrop page, click on Census and Tax Records, from that page click on the picture about viewing census records online. This brings you to the information on subscribing. Look almost at the top of the page where it has a tan divider and the words Search>Images Online>About Images Online. Click on the Images Online part of this. It will take you to another page and in the middle it has Browse Individual Collections and click on 1920 US census then Texas, then Bastrop, then unknown township. You will then see the list of districts with area. Click on the district you want to see. At the bottom of this is the next page link. (Notice the Poor Farm is listed. It was located right next to the Fairview Cemetery in town.) I hope this works for you. Fellow List Members, I have a couple of things I need to bring up just for a way of a reminder. First, the list is not set up to handle formatted text, only plain text. This would include bold, italics, different font sizes, or different font styles. Also, you cannot send attachments to the list. This would include photos and reports from your genealogy software. I know that it would be handy to be able to send photos or the reports, but it is also a guard against viruses (I know from experience at work how much of a pain that can be). This set up arrangement is not my doings, but it is the way ALL Rootsweb lists are set up.
