My great-grandfather came to Texas at age 14. My grandfather was born in Dallas in 1880. There was another group of Smiths in what is now Waller County & in Grimes County--many are buried in the Fields Store cemetery and I believe they came from North Carolina. William H Smith, a doctor, married one of my Stephensons and that line comes from the Solomon Smith line of which I have some information. Betty Meischen
