Posted on: Austin County, Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Austin/452 Surname: Kiesewetter, Dahns, Liermann, Lehrmann ------------------------- I couldn't agree with you more that all the Kiesewetters in Austin Co. have to be connected SOMEHOW! I know precious little. My grandfather, Karl (Charlie) Adolph Kiesewetter was one of many children of C.L. (no idea what the letters stand for!)Kiesewetter and Ida Dahns. He was born in Milhein and she in Nelsonville. I can't go back any further on him. That's why I'm searching. I have a little more on Ida's parents. My grandfather and his siblings that I knew are all passed away now so........My uncle is still living but he doesn't even know his grandparents names (as far as I know) much less further back. Any thoughts you may have on this would certainly be welcome as I seem to be the only one searching this branch (?). THAT seems odd to me as there were about 10 kids in this family. Looking forward to hearing from you, Margot
Posted on: Austin County, Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Austin/451 Surname: Abel, Kiesewetter, Mewis ------------------------- I have no connection to Hintz, but am searching Kiesewetter in Austin Co. Dorothea Katherine Kiesewetter b. abt 1816 married Frederick Mewis abt 1838. They came to Bellville from Perleberg/ Wilsnak area of Prignitz, Brandenburg Prussia with 3 children, Karl, Dorothea (Dora), and Louisa in 1847. 3 moe children, August Fritz, John Arthur, and Mary were born to them in TX. Dorothea Kiesewetter Mewis is my ggg grandmother. I have many desendants from the Mewis and Abel connections and would like to share information as well as learn more about other Kiesewetter "cousins" and hopefully, Dorothea's parents. It seems very unlikely that all the Kiesewetters in Austin Co would not be connected in some way. I would very much like to know if (and how) your Kiesewetter name fits in with my Kiesewetters.
Posted on: Austin County, Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Austin/447 Surname: Kiesewetter, Dahns, Lahrmann, Lehrmann ------------------------- Mr. Schroeder, I am researching my fathers family, Kiesewetter. My great grandmother, Ida Dahns' mother was Wilhelmine (Minna) Lehrmann/Lahrmann, married to August Dahns, of the Cat Spring, Austin Co., TX area. Do you know of any of these people? I would really appreciate any help you may have to offer. Sincerely, Margot Kiesewetter Crume Greenville, NC

Posted on: Austin County, Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Austin/445 Surname: Gebert ------------------------- My mother is Hilda Gebert Wilson, daughter of Emil and Marie Schaub Gebert of Irving, TX. My grandfather Emil and your grandmother Emma Kieke were brother-sister. Emil was born 11 May 1880 in Austin County near New Ulm.The other brothers and sisters were: Mathilda m. Otto Wilke and lived at Pflugerville; Rudolph m. Alma Andress and lived at Bartlet; Louise m. John Frels and lived at Bishop; Adolf m. Emma Schaub(my grandmother's sister) and lived at Gatesville. John was born 18 Sept in the 1840's(Discrepancy about year) in Gross Linde, Prussia. The family story I heard from my Uncle Johnny who frequently worked with his Gebert relatives during harvest season was that John Gebert was a stowaway on a ship to Galveston about 1870. He left Prussia to avoid the compulsory military service. He had at least 2 brothers and 1 sister:Christof was a tailor who moved to Austin COunty in the 1870's or 1880's; a second brother remained in Germany but 2 of his sons immigrated to Texas-William settled in Coupland in 1885 and August settled later in Richland. They both had large families and were John's nephews; a sister came to New York and married but the families didn't stay in contact.John's first wife was named Maertens and he had 1 son William. Franziska Hatlichka(?) was his second wife. She was born in Bohemia 12 Sep 1850 and immigrated at about 2 with parents to south Texas. Her father died soon after arrival and her mother(also Franziska) married a man named Haase, who soon died. She then married his brother Emil Haase. They had 3 children: Mathilda b. 1862 m. __ Meissner and lived in Bartlet; Emil b. 1863 and Emma was his wife-lived in Bartlet; and an older sister who lived in Smithville and m. a Miller. Franziska Gebert is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery in Bartlet. Hope this helps with your research.

I do know he was born in Prussia, but still do not know his parent's names or siblings, etc. Julie Hoover Smylie

So, I will say, anyone interested can obtain a copy of this handy reference from the chairman of the Austin Co., TX Genealogy Society, Joy Neely. There are 26 Phillips listed in the index of this book. Sorry, but running 2 businesses does not permit me the time to do extensive research. Thank you for understanding. Kitty
Posted on: Austin County, Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Austin/439 Surname: MANLY, DANIEL ------------------------- I am posting this follow up to my previous message in hopes that I have not led anyone out on the wrong "limb". - I have received several e-mails from fellow searchers regarding the Manly and Daniel families in Austin Co, TX in late 1880's. One item of info I received has convinced me that Jasper Daniel (prob b 1850 Ala) that can be found in Tarrant Co, TX in 1880 is in all likely hood not the same Jasper Daniel (prob b 1831 GA) who married Elizabeth d/o of John and Lucy Manly. The birth dates and locations evidently show they were different men. It seems that Jasper Newton was a favorite choice for Daniel baby boys! Sorry for any confusion. Jackie

The Sealy Paper is called the Sealy Newspaper. They have micro-film of their newspapers. There are a few years missing due to a fire. They do not have the means to print a copy of any article, it must be hand written directly from the micro-film. And the micro-film reader they have is not in very good shape. They also will not let you look at the older "original" newspapers if you cannot read the micro-film. If you need their phone number and address. I have it in a file and can sent it to you.
