Posted on: Austin County, Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Austin/477 Surname: Cloud ------------------------- My family also resided in the Simpronious area since 1837. My gg grandfather Jeremiah Cloud bought an Austin Colonist's tract on Caney Creek. The area post office was first Travis, Texas (Existed near where Kenny is now) and later Simpronious. There is a road named Simpronious Rd in that area. On that road there is an old schoolhouse which a native told me was the old Simpronious School. I don't know if this is the academy you are referring to or not. I saw it as recently as this summer. A Byler family with a large ranch in that area are very friendly and can give you information about the area. By the way, the Cloud family were neighbors and friends of the Francis family. As a matter of fact, I have been told that the Clouds were buried in the Francis cemetery. Regards, Gary
Does anybody on this list know of a Lutheran Church in or near Shelby, TX that existed in the years of 1850-1890 that would have church registers or of another Lutheran Church that might have merged with one located around Shelby. Thanks, Bruce

There are a number of Kiesewetter's in the Schroeder/Lahrmann lineage. Wanye Zander is a better contact for the Kiesewetter lineage than I am. His e-mail address is waynezander@worldnet.att.net. He doesn't have any data that I know of, but maybe some comparison with your families can uncover something. The latest I go back is 1821 for John Lahrmann and 1893 with William Kiesewetter. Posted on: Austin County, Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Austin/470 Surname: Muller, Hagemann, Milatz, Ottmer, Schroeder, Huebner, Hoppe ------------------------- I am researching the Muller family in the area of Welcome and Industry in Austin Co. Friedrich Wilhelm Muller came to Austin Co. Texas in 1846, marr. Caroline Hagemann in 1850, and lived about half way between Industry and Welcome where their children Gustav, Marie, Caroline, Friedrich, Dorothea, Louise, and Emily were born. The 1860 census showed 2 other women living with them. One was a Mary Miller born about 1821 occupation millner from Germany who I believe married in July of 1860 Wilhelm Lange and lived in Welcome until April 1872 when Friedrich bought their land.(Was Mary a sister or family member of Friedrich?) The other woman shown on the 1860 census was a A. Hagermann born about 1837 occupation millner from Germany who may have been the Anna Hagermann, daughter of Albert and Edah Hagermann, and were they any relation to Caroline(Hagemann) Muller born Nov. 1826 in Burgdorf provence Hannover Germany, and in whose house she was living in? Does any Hagemanns or any other spellings of this name in the Industry area of Austin Co. show a Caroline born Nov. 1826 in their family tree? Thank you for any information.

I am still working on the correct spelling of Milatz,as I have found it spelled several different ways. Carl or Charles Milatz (born in Brandenburg March 1873/died Burleigh community of Austin Co. abt.1903) came to Texas in about 1873 according to the census. His wife's name is unknown, but his 5 children were Louise(not sure what happened to her), Johann(died in Germany), Mary Sophie, Anna, and Minna. Mary Sophie Milatz who marr. a ? Schulz, and then marr. John Henry Juergens and whose 8 children were Ferdinand and Anna Schulz and the Juergens children were Paul, Otto Henry, Emma, Pauline, Henry, and Hermann. Anna Milatz who marr. Johann G. Koehn and then marr. Stephan Gindorf and whose children were Minna, Richard C., and Anna Koehn(along with 6 Gindorf stepchildren). My great grand parents Minna Milatz marr. Gustav Muller of the Welcome community and I have most of their information. I am also searching for information to verify the location of Carl Milatz's grave in the Burleigh community. I have some of the decendant info of some of the children of Mary Sophie and Anna Milatz, but some of it is very uncertain.

All I have so far and I'm not real sure of this is that Adolph born 1882 in Austin Co. died 1943 (parents were Johann Koehn and Anna Milatz) marr. Sophie Krueger in the Burleigh Community. Their children were Lydia born abt. 1907(who may have marr. a ? Merryman) and Leonard born abt. 1910 who I dont believe ever married. Adolph's mother was my great grand mother Minna Milatz Muller's sister, and I am trying to verify the location of her father Carl Milatz's grave. I am also trying to put together a decendant tree of Carl Milatz. Any help with any of this information would be greatly appreciated.

Posted on: Austin County, Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Austin/465 Surname: Foster, Scales, Ekells, Hughes ------------------------- My gg grandparents Robert William Scales and Harriet Caroline Ekells Hughes Scales owned a 505-acre farm on what is now Lynn Road in Austin Co., TX, a few miles east of Kenney. They sold this farm during the Civil War, and on 16 June 1866, Harriet, Roberts wife, purchased a 140-acre tract of land from their neighbor to the north, Mr. B.F. Foster. Is has been suggested, although not substantiated, that Foster was related to Robert or Harriet. Elsworth Poindexter Scales, Robert W. Scales' oldest son, named his first son Foster Scales, which is thought to be after this Foster family. Maybe just because they were neighbors and friends. I was interested to see that at least some of the Fosters came from Williamson Co., TN, as this is where Robert W. Scales lived from early childhood until he was in his mid-30's (+/- 1810 to 1845). I would be interested in seeing if there are any other connections between the Fosters and the Scales. Roger Scales
