    3. Posted on: Austin County, Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Tx/Austin/552 Surname: ------------------------- Kay; I have a lot of copys of deeds and other public records. Friedrich was born either March 16,1818 or March 10,1817 in Lemgo, Lippe Detmold, And Caroline was born November 21,1826 or November 20,1826 in Burgdorf, Provence of Hanover Germany. The difference in dates is the first date for each is on their headstone and the second comes from their obituary. They both with several other family members are buried at Pilgrams Rest Cemetary on the Hill in Industry, Austin County. I am almost certain that Marie Muller that married Wilhelm Lange must have been a sister or cousin, not only by the 1860 census record, but also by where the Langes lived and by property they exchanged.

Area. My ggrandfather was Fritz Ottmer, brother of Henry Ottmer. Fritz married Marie Mueller of Industry. They lived in Welcome but moved to Milam Co. around 1900. 3. Posted on: Austin County, Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Tx/Austin/550 Surname: Hagermann, Sell, Reinecke, Ottmer, Nolte, Mueller ------------------------- Hi Don, My great grandmother was Fredrick and Caroline Hagerman Mueller's (sp) daughter Marie. Marie married Fritz Ottmer from Industry. They farmed in Welcome, had 6 children, and moved to Ben Arnold, Milam County around 1900. Unfortunately I can't solve your mystery. I have also been perplexed by the 2 women who lived with F&C. AC marriage records list the marriage of Anna Hagerman & Ernst Richter Aug. 18,1858. Could this mean there were 2 A/Anna's & Albert's daughter became the Hagerman/Richter? Perhaps 1860 Richter Census listings could give us the answer. I have found 3 other Anna Hagermans in this period. The only one that could possibly be our A. is an Anna Lanquest who married Wm.John T. Hagerman in 1851 AC. Census records have led me to also believe F&C's Mary Miller married Wilhelm Lange. My great Grandmother seems to have been named for this Mary Miller. Marie Mueller Ottmer pronounced her name "Mary Miller". I do believe Mary was F's sister although I haven't found verification. Do you have any info. on F&C's origins (births, parents, etc.) or where they are buried? Do you know if F immigrated alone? There seems to have been many Muellers/Mullers/Millers in the Industry area and a large number of others from Lippe Detmold?

    1. [TXAUSTIN] Jeremiah CLOUD
    2. Tom Cloud
    3. Posted on: Austin Co. Tx Obituaries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/AustinObits/48 Surname: CLOUD ------------------------- Obituary of Jeremiah CLOUD: April 6, 1861 Hempstead Courier and reads as follows: " Died, On Caney creek in this county, on the 14th ult., MR. JEREMIAH CLOUD, Sr., In the 77th year of his age. " Mr. C. was born in Twiggs Co., Georgia, in 1784; emigrated to Mont- gomery Co. Alabama in 1816, when he removed to this State, in which he lived up to the time of his death, shar- ing her joys and sorrows. " He leaves behind him what the best of us aspire to, an unsullied reputation; besides a numerous family, consisting of his first and only wife, who was the partner of his days for sixty years, six children, thirty four grand-children, and twenty-six great grand children; all of whom must be often reminded of his absence, and feel the want of his experienced counsel." The book "Youngblood-Armstrong & Allied Families" says: "At his death, his only surviving sons, H.G.W. (Wash) Cloud and Francis M. Cloud applied for administration papers on his estate. H.G.W. Cloud stated that his mother was the one by law to administer, but that she was extremely old, over seventy. Elizabeth, the mother, felt that H.G.W. should not administer, because of his total blindness and also the distance from her, as 'he lived on the opposite side of the river'." (Vol. 2, p. 60, Ct. Rec. Austin, Tex.) His youngest son, F.M. (Francis Marion) Cloud, and his widow were named executor and executrix of his estate." The problem with the Youngblood book statement is that another son was still alive -- John Clark Cloud, who died in 1868. There were several lawsuits filed against F.M. Cloud by other members of the family, the litigation lasting about twenty years. (There is an "Elizina" mentioned in the probate records of Jeremiah -- suspect this is Elcena.) The probate records entered on 10-26-1861 in Austin County reflect a large estate. Among the items listed are 600+ acres of land in Austin County, 100 acres of land in Washington County, 960 acres of land in Bosque County, 320 acres of land in Bexar County, 28 horses, 47 head of cattle, 7 slaves, and farming equipment and crops. The following from the probate papers on his estate: Taxes on Bosque Co, February 15, 1864 640 acres granted to Jerry Cloud Bosque Co. 320 acres granted to James M. Cloud in Taylor Co. 640 acres granted to A. J. Cloud in Bosque Co. $10 paid for the year of 1863 plus $3.20 of the county War Tax on Bosque Co. lands Certificate of Redemption: Land granted to A. J. Cloud of 640 acres; class claim of 3 Abstract 116 Situated in Bosque Co.; Tax $8.25 repurchased land by F. M. Cloud--redeemed land 29 October, 1869 Land sold for taxes to State of Texas (there were 2 original receipts) In the Probate Minutes M, p.70, January 22, 1862, Elizabeth Cloud is allowed to sell the land in Bosque Co: 320 and 640 acres. / .... Jeremiah Cloud's obituary says he was born in Twiggs county GA in 1784. But that county wasn't formed until 1809, it being formed from Wilkinson county (itself being created from Creek cession in 1803). Some believe he was born in Wilkes GA which was called St. Paul Parish before its formation in 1777. We are told (by the Youngblood-Armstrong book) that he lived in SC prior to his son H.G.W.'s marriage to Mary McDADE in 1828. Last March, Gary Cloud (previous post), some other descendants of Jeremiah Cloud and I visited Bellville and spent a lot of time looking for the "Francis Cemetery" where we think Jeremiah and Elizabeth Cloud might be buried. We met one of the Byler men and he took us around and showed us various graves -- which can be seen on my rootsweb page at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cloud/TX/BellvilleTrip.htm I wrote a short history of our Jeremiah Cloud for submission into some Alabama county Heritage books. It can be seen at: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cloud/TX/Alabama_Jeremiah.htm I look forward to corresponding more with you -- and Gary is our family historian for that area. 2. Thanks Malissa for info about the graves. I'm curious also about name of road these graves are near. We should all follow Malissa's example and post info on these small cemeteries with names on headstones. I have ancestors buried in Austin Co I cannot find in cemetery book, and assume they are probably buried on private property or small cemetery where most of the old headstones are no longer standing/visible. The names are: Caroline and Henry/Heinrich Falk. Both died in January 1873. I found will probates, but nothing on their burials. Does anyone know the name of a funeral home in Auston Co in the 1873 time frame? These folks lived in the Buckholts community.
